Flackwild Heath Welcome! Flackwild Heath is a community project which began with the creation of 3 wildflower meadow patches on Green Dragon Lane in 2018.

We now have nearly 30 patches of seeds sown across the village and eagerly await the results in Spring 2020!

Quick mow around the edges, pulled out some Ragwort, picked up some litter.

It’s extremely dry and flowers are few and far between. Look closer however - and you’ll see lots of Yellow Rattle, quietly doing its thing. 🙂

We’re having a bit of a nightmare with wildflowers this year - all bets are off! 🤣
Never thought I’d complain about blue skies, warm sun and a lack of rain. 😉

…anyway - I took a walk down to sit on the bench at Orchard Green last night to check out our latest project.

Fully recommend spending five mins.
It’s lovely.

Not a drop in 9 weeks.

It’s a cracking place to sit and enjoy birdsong and a little quiet. Lots of Buttercups, some Yellow Rattle pushing through and the odd Poppy…
