Give up your bed for one night so someone else can keep theirs.

On Friday 13 November, our community is coming together for Wycombe Homeless Connection’s Big Sleepout to say people shouldn’t have to face homelessness alone.

We’re challenging you to swap your bed for a sleeping bag, build your own shelter beneath the cold November sky, and help raise vital money for local people who are homeless or facing homelessness.

And this year, join us for the FREE Together Festival alongside the Sleepout whether you’re staying the night or not. All are welcome but booking is essential. There will be fire pits, hot food and drink, storytelling and more.

It’s all taking place at The Walled Garden at West Wycombe HP14 3AP

Sleepout registration and festival booking is open!

All of the details and links to register are on our website:

Nobody should have to face homelessness alone.

Right now, people in our community are facing impossible choices.

Pay the rent or buy food.
Keep up with bills or heat their home.

For some, it only takes one unexpected event to push them towards homelessness.

At Wycombe Homeless Connection, we work every day to prevent homelessness before crisis strikes and support people who have nowhere else to turn.

But demand for our services continues to grow.

Will you help us reach more people before they lose their home?

Every gift makes a difference.

There's still time to bake, make or grow to help people who are homeless!

We need homemade and home-grown goods for our stand at the Beaconsfield Country Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August.

Could you bake, grow, or make something for us to sell on the day?

We’d be delighted to accept donations including:

• Cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pies, and bakes
• Bread and rolls
• Jams, marmalade, honey
• Allotment fruit or vegetables
• Indoor or outdoor plants

Every item helps us raise vital funds.

You can drop your offerings at our office on Castle Street on Friday 28th August, bring them to the stall on the day at 10am, or we can collect from you. This can be arranged nearer the time.

We also need high quality raffle prizes.

Homelessness happens here. And together, we can do something about it.

Across south Buckinghamshire, people are facing housing insecurity, rising costs and uncertainty about the future.

Your support helps local people access practical advice, emergency support, homelessness prevention services and pathways into stable housing.

When someone is facing homelessness, having somewhere to turn can make all the difference.

Please support our appeal and help local people find safety, stability and hope.

Please, give generously today:

This is a bit longer than our usual messages but it is important.

We're talking about this again as we’re seeing videos online of people who appear to be homeless. We know much of this content is made with good intentions, and we don't want to discourage people from helping but it can cause harm.

At Wycombe Homeless Connection, we've been working alongside people experiencing homelessness in our community for nearly 20 years. We've supported hundreds of people, sometimes for a day, a week, a month and in some cases years. We help people find somewhere safe to live, get healthcare, access benefits, understand their rights and options, and help them with other types of support they’re entitled to.

We're trusted, accountable and transparent, and we want to share what we've learned from nearly two decades of working with people in crisis.

We know how complex homelessness can be, and why seemingly simple acts of kindness can sometimes have unintended consequences. People experiencing homelessness have rights to privacy, dignity and informed consent.

Achieving full, informed consent to be filmed, identified and publicly shared can be especially difficult where there is a power imbalance: when one person controls the phone, the platform, the audience, and gives out money, gifts of food or other practical items, while the other person does not. It can be very tough to say no to those gifts, or to being filmed, even if that's what someone actually wants to say.

Public exposure, especially at a local level, can have lasting personal consequences far beyond the moment a video is posted.

At Wycombe Homeless Connection, we rarely share images of the people we support, even though doing so could highlight some of the realities of homelessness and generate support and money for our work.

We choose not to because protecting people’s dignity, safety, wellbeing and recovery comes first.

Our mission is to help our community make a lasting impact on people in a housing crisis, stop those crises before they happen, and do it all in safe, trauma-informed, impactful and accountable ways.

Hundreds of local people help us provide practical, trauma-informed support including expert advice, shelter, food, clothing, showers, healthcare access and help navigating complex systems.

Together, we work with people to build a future they choose for themselves.
