๐ Book of Ukrainian Stories: our one year journey and our final celebration ๐
Today we came together for the final event of the Book of Ukrainian Stories and it felt like the right moment to look back and say a heartfelt thank you.
Just one year ago, on 17 May 2025, we started with ยฃ488 and a simple idea: to print 100 books and share Ukrainian voices. From that small beginning, something much bigger grew.
๐ In one year, together we achieved:
- Printed and distributed 300 more books
- Donated 100 books to libraries, including the British Library
- Raised ยฃ3,198.37 in total which let us to support 10 animal shelters in Ukraine and our dear Stage Fright
- Sent the Book on a journey across the UK: from local communities to national institutions
๐ The Book travelled far, reaching:
- The Royal Family
- Ukrainian Embassy and Ukrainian Institute in London
- Libraries, community centres, arts spaces, universities
- Ukrainian organisations and communities across the UK
- Media platforms, cultural venues, and countless caring hands
๐ค The Book loved being among people and it was presented during Refugee Week, Hexham Art Open Day, and many more cultural events, and informal gatherings where stories connected strangers and built community.
We also close this chapter knowing that ยฃ753 remains which means this is not an ending, but a pause before the next project.
๐ Thank you to everyone who joined todayโs event, who bought, read, shared, donated, hosted, reposted, and believed. To every person who carried these stories a little further.
๐ A very special thank you to Linda Ferris and Katherine Prandle for your great help and support, the Book would not be possible without you! and to Stage Fright C.I.C, for so generously hosting us.
This Book was never just a book. It became a community.
๐ We still have a few copies left.
๐ Please get in touch if you want to have a copy: [email protected]
โจ And stay with us - the next chapter is cooking.
With gratitude,
The Book of Ukrainian Stories team
