Today the final part of the sign post restoration project was completed. Thanks to David from Signpost Restoration Limited and Bob from Custom Xpress we have been able to restore 2 of the 3 village Signpost back to their original form. Historic photos were used as a reference not just guess work and the original makers custom mark has been highlighted as a feature.

These posts were originally cast in 1900s and again in 2026 so heres to another 126 years of beautiful street furniture.

Our village history is so important to us and worth every effort to restore and preserve it for future generations...
We hope you approve!

Great Progress on Seghill Crescent Playpark!

We have an exciting update to share on the future of Seghill Crescent Playpark. The contract for the repair works has now been officially awarded, and that’s not all, we have also approved some fantastic additional features to make the play area even better!

A huge thank you goes to Cllr Eve Chicken for her generous £10,000 contribution towards the project, which has provided a wonderful boost to make these improvements possible.

We are currently finalising the start date with our appointed contractor. The park will need to stay closed while the work is safely carried out, but we can't wait for the gates to be back open and ready for children to enjoy.

Thank you so much for your patience while we get this work under way, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to a refreshed and updated park!

🚌 RESTORING OUR STONE BUS SHELTERS ACROSS SEATON VALLEY

You may have noticed work taking place over the past few weeks to restore our traditional stone bus shelters across the villages of Seaton Valley.

I’m pleased to share that we have secured £52,500 in grant funding from NECA to help preserve these important local features.

As part of the project, 14 stone bus shelters across Seaton Valley have received new roofs and essential repairs, helping protect them for residents and future generations.

These shelters are part of our villages’ character and heritage, and it’s great to see investment going into maintaining them for the benefit of our community.

A positive result for Seaton Valley! 👏

🇬🇧 A big thank you to Northumbria Army Cadet Force for a fantastic open evening last night. 🇬🇧

It was great to see first-hand the opportunities they offer young people from leadership, teamwork and discipline to outdoor adventure, fieldcraft, first aid, navigation and developing confidence and resilience.

The Cadet Force gives young people experiences and skills that can stay with them for life, while encouraging responsibility, friendship and a real sense of achievement.

As a veteran, I know how valuable these experiences can be, and it was brilliant to see the dedication of the cadets and adult volunteers.

Thank you to everyone involved for the fantastic work you do. 👏

If your Child is aged between 12-18yrs and is interested in joining please get in touch via the link 👇

🇬🇧 𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆 𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙑𝙀𝙏𝙀𝙍𝘼𝙉𝙎 🇬🇧

As a veteran, I fully support this petition by Councillor Brian Erskine and Mark Foster .

Those who have served our country should never face discrimination because they are veterans. Our service should be recognised and respected when it comes to employment, housing, healthcare and public services.

This isn't about special treatment — it's about fairness, recognition and doing the right thing for those who served.

Please sign and share the petition to make being a veteran a protected characteristic under UK Law.

We should always stand up for those who served.
