Tarset & Falstone — help us reach the finish line
We’re so close now, and every pledge is helping us get there.
Thanks to the fantastic support from the community across Tarset & Falstone, we’ve already got a strong total pledged towards the project. However, we are still some way off our target, and every new pledge helps bring full fibre one step closer.

A reminder that we will be having a community barbecue on Saturday 13th June. The hall will be open from 11am, with an exhibition of local archive material on display. Later in the afternoon the barbecues will be fired up for everyone to cook whatever they care to bring. The village hall will provide salads and there will be a licensed bar. And we will round off the day with folk duo, Fool’s Gold, who will be performing their show, ’The Blaydon Races’. The ticket price for the show is £7.50.

Tonight is Tarset and Greystead Parish Annual Assembly, starting at 7pm at Tarset Village Hall.

This is an Opportunity for Residents of the Parish to attend and raise any matters they wish to.

A reminder that the final film of the season is this week, on Thursday 21st May, the 2025 British comedy-drama ’The Ballad of Wallis Island’. Directed by James Griffiths and written and starring Tim Key and Tom Basden, the film is based on their short film, ’The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island’. Basden and Carey Mulligan play a folk duo who reunite for an unusual performance. The critics were vey positive, concluding the film “hums along a sweet melody without lapsing into outright sentimentality, mining a great deal of warmth from its humble presence.”

As usual the doors will open at 7pm with a fully licensed bar, the film starting at 7.30pm. Hope to see you there!

The penultimate film of this season is ‘Drugstore Cowboy’, a 1989 black comedy directed by Gus Van Sant and based on the autobiographical novel by James Fogle. The film stars James Dillon, Kelly Lynch and Heather Graham. It follows a group of nomadic drug addicts in 1971 Portland, Oregon. The film received universal significant acclaim from the critics, with praise for its performances and dark humour, and in the years since its original release, has developed a cult following. Scoring 97% on the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator, the critics consensus reads, “Drugstore Cowboy” takes us into a violent, transient world with, contemplative style.”
