Salcare and Salcare Escape is a community support charity with a food bank, charity shop, furniture warehouse and Domestic Violence Support Service.

We offer advice, support workers, Art Therapy and support groups along with much more.

💜 A huge thank you to Rotary Amber Valley ! 💜

We’re incredibly grateful for their generous £250 donation, which has enabled us to purchase copies of One in Four Women – Understanding Men's Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women by Sandra Rellish.

📚 Our team share these books with participants on Salcare’s Survivors Programme, providing a valuable resource to help build understanding and awareness of domestic abuse and violence against women.

As we move into November and Domestic Abuse Awareness Month ends for another year, let's not forget:

Abuse does not end because October has.

Posts will slow down.
Purple ribbons will come down.
The world and its attention will move on to something else.

But survivors?

Their healing doesn't follow a calendar.
Their trauma doesn't disappear when the awareness posts stop.
Their fear doesn't automatically fade because another month has passed.
Their fight for safety, justice and rebuilding their lives doesn't stop when October ends.

For some, the abuse is still happening.

For others, the relationship may be over, but the impact remains long after they have escaped.

Some are still finding the courage to speak out, some are navigating the realities of life after abuse, and some are simply trying to get through each day.

Domestic abuse awareness shouldn't be seasonal. Support shouldn't have an expiry date. And survivors shouldn't have to wait until October to be heard, believed or supported.

So, as we move into November, let's keep listening, keep learning, keep challenging abusive behaviours and, most importantly, keep showing up for survivors.

Today, members of the ESCAPE team are attending the University of Derby for their 'Forensic Psychology Networking & Futures Event'.

The team are joining other professionals and organisations, to connect with undergraduate students and explore how forensic psychology links to real-world work.

The event provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain insight into specialist services such as Salcare, explore the diverse ways professionals support individuals and communities, and discover how their studies can translate into meaningful careers across a range of specialist fields.

We’re looking forward to connecting with students, sharing experiences and exploring how today’s conversations can help shape tomorrow’s opportunities! 🤝✨

Halloween is a time for spooky costumes, scary stories and things that go bump in the night… but for some people, fear is an everyday reality behind closed doors.

As families and communities come together this half term, let’s remember that:
🧡 Abuse is never the victim’s fault.
🧡 Everyone deserves to feel safe at home and in their relationships.
🧡 A listening ear, a kind word and non-judgemental support can make a difference.
🧡 Help is available — and no one has to face abuse alone.

We’re here to help. Our service offers support to people affected by domestic abuse, providing a safe, understanding and non-judgemental space to talk through your experiences and explore your options.

🎃 This Halloween, let’s look beyond the masks, challenge the silence surrounding domestic abuse and help make home a place of safety.

💜 No more talk. It’s time for action. 💜

Salcare’s ESCAPE team proudly attended the 2026 East Midlands VAWG Conference on 14 October, joining others to explore how we can strengthen the response to violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Hannah and Jordan shared insights and best practice with other professionals, while Hannah delivered a powerful speech on the vital role of community, collaboration and strong local connections in supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

At Salcare, we don’t just talk about change — we work to make it happen. 💜
