The countdown is well and truly on! In just over three weeks, Don will set off on the Route 6 Challenge – an incredible 445-mile charity bike ride! 💪

He's been training hard, putting in the miles and preparing himself for the huge challenge ahead – and we're delighted that he's already raised a fantastic £910! 🙌

But Don wants to raise even more for two fantastic charities – Salcare and Beatson Cancer Charity. 💙

A reminder that our Sexual Health Promotion Drop-In Sessions take place on the 2nd Friday of each month, 10:00am – 12:00pm at Salcare.

🍽️💛 Free Hot Food Tuesday – We’re Back Today! 💛🍽️

After the Bank Holiday, Salcare is back open as normal today — and of course, that means it's Free Hot Food Tuesday! 🙌

Come along between 12pm–2pm for a tasty hot meal, friendly faces and a warm welcome. Everyone is welcome! 😊

Over the last few weeks, we've also been really pleased to welcome staff from Spectrum Housing into our kitchen, volunteering their time to help cook and serve meals. Some of their residents have also been joining us, not only enjoying a lovely hot meal but also having the opportunity to learn new kitchen skills, build confidence and meet and interact with others. 💛

It's wonderful to see partnerships like this bringing people together and creating opportunities alongside the food on the plate! 🙌

🎨🌳 What a fantastic day at Art in the Park! 🌳🎨

Salcare’s ESCAPE Family Support Team and Futures Housing Group had a brilliant day getting creative, making some wonderful art pieces and spending time connecting and chatting with local people. 💚

It was lovely to see people stopping by to have a go, get involved with the art activities and take some time out to enjoy being creative in such a beautiful setting. Events like this are also a great opportunity to meet new people, have conversations and share more about the support and services available locally.

We were also really pleased to welcome representatives from the Community Safety Team at Amber Valley Borough Council, who came along and provided some helpful safety items for visitors to take away.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got creative, had a chat and helped make it such a lovely day! 😊🎨🌿

The training miles are adding up, the bike is getting tweaked and the preparation is well underway for 26th September.

🚴‍♂️🏔️ Another holiday, but the training still hasn't stopped!

Don is off enjoying another week away, but that hasn't stopped him getting the miles in! 💪

This time he's been tackling some serious climbs in Wales – including one that is reportedly one of the steepest streets in the world! 😳⛰️

We're not sure whether this counts as a holiday or a training camp anymore… 😂

With the 445-mile charity ride getting closer, every mile (and every hill!) counts as Don continues to prepare for the big challenge in aid of Salcare and Beatson Cancer Charity. 💙

What a fabulous day Sorrel and Jordan from our Family Support Team had on Monday at the Heanor & Loscoe Town Council Pirate Takeover! 🏴‍☠️⚓️

They had a brilliant time getting involved with lots of fun activities, all with a little Salcare twist! 💚💜

🍾 Letter in a Bottle – “What would you say to help someone feel okay?” 💌
🎨 Pirate Emotions – drawing and naming different emotions
🦜 Craft your own Parrot – plenty of colourful creativity!
🪙 Treasure Hunt – exploring the event to find coins with words linked to the kind of support we provide at Salcare 🫶🏼

And there were a couple of extra treats too…

🧸 “A teddy bear to treasure, free for your pleasure”
💧 “See your name? It’s yours to claim” – personalised water bottles for the children!

It sounds like they had an absolute blast – and we’ve got some very lovely Letters in a Bottle back at the office too. 💌🥰
