💚 We are still short of £800 in pledges.

We’re looking for people, businesses and organisations to pledge from just £100 towards our campaign. We’ve already received £700 in pledges so far. 🎉

These pledges form part of our match funding pot. Then, when the Big Give Christmas campaign opens in December, we’ll ask the public to donate. Those donations can then be matched from the pot, helping us raise significantly more than we could through donations alone.

So, if we can secure just another £800 in pledges now, we could potentially raise up to £6,000 during the campaign!
⏰ BUT - we only have 10 days to get our pledges in!
Pledges need to be submitted by 8 September, but payment isn’t needed until after the campaign ends in December!

👉 Make your pledge here:
https://community.biggive.org/s/pledge...
The pledge is a commitment to support our campaign, rather than an immediate donation.

The form explains how the process works, and we’re very happy to answer any questions.

So, whether you’re a previous supporter, a local business, an organisation, or simply someone who loves what we do, we’d love you to be part of it.

Every pledge gets us closer to giving the public the opportunity to make their Christmas donation go even further. ❤️🐾
Thank you, as always, for supporting Brinsley Animal Rescue.

🎄 We can’t believe we’re talking about Christmas already…!

But apparently August is the time to start thinking about it, so here we are! 😂

Yesturday our cows and bulls had a pedicure. Its important for the health and welfare of the cattle to have thier hooves trimmed regularly to prevent injuries and lameness. They all got a clean bill of health.

Like a chrysalis emerging, this juvenile barn owl came in yesterday and I thought we may loose him. He was and still is extremely thin like a lot of wildlife that is currently coming in. This is not a normal summer and wildlife is being pushed to the limits. From the ground up those at the top of the food chain are struggling the most in this weather. This gorgeous owl was put into an incubator as he has totally collapsed and was clinging on to life. I even got the stethoscope out to check for a heart beat, it was faint so I felt we had a chance. 24 hours of intensive nursing, tube feeds, electrolytes, warmth and feeds in the night and we have an owl standing and taking small regular solid feeds. He isn’t out of the woods yet but today is more positive for him. We have many more weeks of care and hopefully some kinder weather before he can be released back to the wild. The pair we released last week have been spotted gliding through the fields at their soft release site and hunting in long grassland. We just hope this little guy can enjoy the same freedom in the weeks to come. Fingers crossed.

These two lovely geese arrived this week and are now looking for a life-long home. Geese live around 20 - 30 years. We don't often have space to take them in however, thankfully our last pair have been offered a home providing space to allow us to take these young girls in.

Celebrating Freddie's 10th birthday 🎂 🐮🐄

13/08/2026

Today is Freddie's 10th birthday and at the weekend we are having a BBQ with our volunteers (vegan of course), to celebrate this achievement.

Freddie, originally born on a meat farm was has a twisted jaw and nose from birth, he struggled to eat which has stunted his growth, for that reason the farmer thankfully let us save his life.

As Freddie has grown, his nose and jaw miss-alignment has increased, now fully grown, the misalignment and twist will not get any worse. This is not caused by an injury, it is congenital, he is not in any pain or discomfort, he has frequent assessments from our farm vets.

Keeping Freddie alive and healthy has been a huge challenge for us and we have adapted over the years, he does love his food, however drops alot when eating and later when chewing the cud. We give Freddie extra care and a bespoke diet, our vets are amazed that we have managed to keep him alive and so well.

Freddie is a real character and makes the most of his privileged position of receiving a cow buffet several times a day. When he's ready for his next snack, he will stand across the gateway blocking everyone's access, only when you show him his bucket of chopped grass, apples, hard feed and bananas will he move to let you in. If he doesn't approve of the buffet, he show you his disapproval by the continue blockage of the gate, then we have to find another treat that he approves of!

Freddie we love you so much!!
