✨THE IMPORTANCE OF FOSTERING✨
Fostering gives cats a safe, temporary home where they can relax, recover, build confidence and show us who they really are.
It helps us understand their personalities, routines, behaviours and individual needs, so we can find the right forever home for them and help set them up for a successful future.
🐾 Rocky’s Story 🐾
Rocky came into our care as a tough street tom with a burst abscess and an upper respiratory infection. He’d survived outdoors with people feeding him, but no one taking responsibility for him.
After more than two months in boarding, Rocky was struggling. He hated the environment and became fear aggressive, making it hard to see the cat behind the fear.
He then went into foster care with Dan.
The difference has been incredible. For the first time he could settle, decompress and begin trusting people at his own pace. The cat we see now is completely different to the frightened boy who first arrived.
Rocky is still looking for his forever home and is available for adoption, but fostering has already changed his future.
🐾 Chuckie & Phineas 🐾
When they first went into foster care, they hid for the first 36 hours. They were timid, unsure and frightened.
With patience and reassurance, their foster carer Anita slowly saw their personalities begin to shine through.
She discovered:
Phineas loves attention and fuss
Chuckie is the mischievous one
They love “mad half hour” zoomies together
They enjoy sunbathing and birdwatching
They became affectionate, playful and full of character
These are the things we often only learn in a home environment, and this is vital for matching cats with the right forever families.
Thanks to fostering, Chuckie and Phineas found their forever home together.
