We are incredibly grateful to Mike Greensmith and the Rotary in Harpenden for raising an incredible ยฃ5,000 for ADD-vance by hosting a number of fundraising events across the year.

The theme for this year's Carers Week is 'Building Carer Friendly Communities' ๐Ÿค

โœจ A truly carer-friendly community starts with making sure that parent carers know their rights and can access the support they are entitled to. Navigating the financial and practical side of SEN parenting can feel like a minefield, but you have rights!

If you are caring for a neurodivergent child or young person, you might be entitled to:

๐Ÿ’ฐ Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for your child to help with extra care costs.
๐Ÿ’ถ Carerโ€™s Allowance or the carer element of Universal Credit if you provide at least 35 hours of care a week.
๐Ÿ“‹ A Parent Carer Needs Assessment via Hertfordshire County Council to see what extra practical support your family might need (https://t.ly/oNjUd)
๐Ÿ’ผ Workplace Rights: Including the statutory right to request flexible working from day one, and unpaid Carer's Leave.

Part of building a supportive community is making sure no one misses out on the help they deserve. If you need help understanding these benefits there's lots of information available here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/ or please feel free to call our helpline on ๐Ÿ“ž 01727 833963 or email [email protected]
