Help improve ethnic diversity in deaf research!
Zahra, an ethnic deaf PhD student at DCAL, is leading a project exploring the barriers and facilitators to research participation for ethnic deaf people. This project included consultation with deaf ethnic organisations, including Black Deaf UK and Deaf Ethnic Women’s Association (DEWA), and as well as with ethnic deaf individuals.
I have included a BSL video created by Ahmed Mudawi below that explains more about the project: https://youtu.be/rWcaLmUO9iM
You can take part if you are:
- deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind (including people with Usher syndrome or other vision conditions affecting sight)
- from an ethnic background
- aged 18 or over
- living in the UK
If you would like to take part and have any additional access needs, support can be arranged. Please contact Zahra at [email protected]
Please take part in this short survey with BSL videos:

We would really appreciate your time and support in helping make research more inclusive for ethnic deaf people.
