🌺 Remembrance is coming, and Harpenden Lions are proud to be supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Harpenden.

A big thank you first. The 2025 Poppy Appeal raised £31,000, announced at a social evening at Bennetts RBL Harpenden on 24th September. The evening also recognised members of our club: John and Denise Powell received certificates of appreciation for an amazing 45 years of help, and David Cowan and Dave Price received certificates for 10 years of assistance. Congratulations and thank you to you all! 👏

This year, Lions members will help distribute poppies to schools, shops and offices across Harpenden, Batford and Wheathampstead, collect at the station by offering poppies to commuters, and count the proceeds.

📅 Save the date: the 2026 Field of Remembrance opens and the Poppy Appeal launches at the War Memorial on the High Street at 11am on Saturday 24th October. Collections run until Remembrance Sunday, 8th November.

Can you spare an hour or two to help with the collecting? To volunteer please contact the appeals organiser Rosemary Crofts ‭07983 429771 or [email protected]. Every hour makes a difference.
Lest we forget. 🦁

What a fantastic Sunday! 🦁📚

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Harpenden Lions book stall at the Harpenden Sustainability Market on September 20th. The turnout was brilliant, and the energy was absolutely fantastic!

Thanks to your support, we raised over £250 – funds that will make a real difference in our community. This money will go directly into our youth support programme, helping to fund environmental projects in local schools across Harpenden.

It's wonderful to see so many people committed to sustainability, supporting second-hand books, and caring about the future our young people will inherit. Your purchases meant so much – every book found a new home, and every penny raised will help inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

A special thank you to all our volunteers who made the day possible, and to the brilliant Harpenden community for making it such a success!

If you missed us this time – keep an eye out for our next event. We'd love to see you there! 🌱

What an incredible community effort! 🦁💚

We're absolutely thrilled to announce that Harpenden Lions has donated £6,000 to Hertfordshire Mind – proceeds from our 2026 Highland Gathering!

This donation is the result of months of planning, countless volunteer hours, and the amazing support of everyone who came along to enjoy the Highland Gathering. From our dedicated Lions members to the community members who attended, purchased raffle tickets, and supported us in so many ways – this success is truly a collective effort.

Hertfordshire Mind does vital work supporting people's mental health and wellbeing across our county. With this donation, we're helping them continue their crucial services, support networks, and campaigns that make a real difference to people when they need it most.

Mental health matters. Community matters. And together, we're making Hertfordshire a better place for everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the Highland Gathering such a success – your generosity and support have changed lives.

If you'd like to get involved with Harpenden Lions and help us continue this vital work, we'd love to hear from you. Join us – together, we can do so much more.

A very warm welcome to our newest member! 🦁✨

We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Amanda to Harpenden Lions Club!

For those who know her story, Amanda's journey with service didn't start here – she was a member of Lions Clubs International's youth programme, Leos, during her younger years. Back then, she caught the spirit of service, community action, and friendship that defines everything we do. Fast forward to today, and she's officially joined us as a full member of Harpenden Lions!

It's wonderful to see someone return to the Lions family and bring that same commitment and energy that inspired her all those years ago. Amanda's experience as a Leo means she already understands our values – and we couldn't be more excited to have her on the team.

If you've ever considered joining Harpenden Lions – whether you're coming back like Amanda or discovering us for the first time – we'd love to hear from you! We're a community of people committed to service, friendship, and making a real difference right here in Harpenden.

Here's to new beginnings and old friendships renewed. Welcome aboard, Amanda! 🦁

Get in touch to find out how you can join us – together, we're changing lives.

What a brilliant weekend supporting the Flamstead Scarecrow Festival. Harpenden Lions were out in force helping with traffic control, keeping the village safe and moving smoothly while families explored the scarecrows dotted around Flamstead.

It was great to be part of such a creative, community‑driven event — and even better to meet so many friendly faces along the way.

Want to get involved? We're always looking for new volunteers and supporters!
