We’re looking for a Treasurer to join the HMF Board of Trustees. If you’re a dynamic individual with a recognised financial qualification, a strong commercial understanding and a passion for driving excellence and innovation to better support families, we would love to hear from you!

The Treasurer plays a key part in ensuring the long term financial sustainability of the charity, navigating growth and supporting our strategic vision. Working alongside our senior leadership team, the role involves oversight of all financial activities, procedures and controls and preparation of the annual accounts and report. The role is voluntary but with reasonable expenses reimbursed. Our board meets formally every 2 months, with a one hour update call on alternate months when required. The majority of board meetings are held virtually, with at least one meeting each year held face-to-face.

By joining our board, you’ll be helping us to drive forward our service which provides specialist lactation support, access to safe, screened donor human milk, training and research, to help improve the lives of babies and their families. We are keen to encourage a diverse board who can help us to create truly inclusive services that reach those most in need.

Our CoFounder Gillian Weaver attended the APPG on Infant Feeding and Inequalities yesterday at the Houses of Parliament where Professor Amy Brown from Swansea University presented findings from the recent Infant Feeding Survey in England. Amy highlighted in her presentation that donor human milk was mentioned for the first time in the survey, as a feeding method which is significant step forward. Gillian asked questions that started a discussion on how best to ensure further questions about donor milk are included in the next survey, and the importance of donor milk in emergency scenarios, with some counties already developing breast milk reserves to prepare for possible future needs.

The APPG is chaired by MP Jess Fuller-Smith and was attended in person by Sharon Hodgson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Health and Social Care. It was wonderful to attend this important presentation and valuable discussion.

Gillian and Alison Meinel also discovered they were both coincidentally wearing our beautiful oxytocin bags from our charity gift shop ! 💕

What a special day! Thank you to everyone who came along to support our golf day, dinner and auction at Berkhamsted Golf Club last Thursday 7th May, to all our event sponsors and all who donated items to the auction, tombola and raffle. We are completely blown away by your love, support and generosity in the run up to the event, and on the day! When people come together to connect and unite in a shared mission, something really magical happens, and there was definitely magic in the room.✨ New connections were made, ideas were born, laughs were shared and vital funds of over £16,000 were raised, an incredible sum which will enable hundreds of babies to receive donor human milk, helping save tiny lives. ❤🤍

It was an honour to welcome The Mayor of Dacorum Catherine McArevey to the event who gave a wonderful, inspirational speech. Special thanks to Brandler Galleries who donated limited edition artwork by Banksy, David Hockney & The Connor Brothers, our charity partner Epson UK for donating wonderful items & goody bags, and printing our event materials, Keith Goddard for the donation of beautiful handmade wood-turned items and Aneesh Popat of The Chocolatier for providing delicious luxury chocolate truffles for our guests to enjoy and a wonderful auction prize.

We are currently recruiting for new trustees with a diverse range of skills and experience to join our board, bringing energy and enthusiasm towards our ambitious goals, supporting the development of a national milk bank service. We have a number of roles available and are particularly looking for trustees with experience in medicine, health policy, finance, law, human rights and HR.

🔹Contract: Trustees serve for 3 year terms
🔹Pay rate: Voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed
🔹Location: Remote, one in person meeting per year. Must be based in the UK.

*Time commitment*

Our board meets formally once every two months with a remote meeting of up to 2 hours, with a one-hour update call on alternative months when required. While most meetings are conducted virtually, at least one meeting per year will be held in person.
