Yesterday was a special day. Together with some of our Snowdrop Donors, we planted hundreds of snowdrop bulbs in the milk bank garden, in honour of all the very special mums who have chosen to donate their milk after loss, and in memory of their much-loved and much-missed babies, whose milk helped make a difference to so many.

The snowdrop flower is also known as the milk flower, representing love and hope. It is the emblem of the Human Milk Foundation charity.

The beautiful little white flowers bloom in the shape of a heart outside in The Hearts Milk Bank garden each year, reminding us of the incredible kindness of our Snowdrop Donors.

Tonight, we will be joining the Global Wave of Light, lighting a candle at the milk bank to remember all the little babies who were lost too soon. We are sending our love to all affected by baby loss and pregnancy loss. 🤍💜

With huge thanks to J.Parker’s bulbs for kindly donating the snowdrop bulbs for the planting. 🙏🏻

Have you donated breast milk in the UK? This new research study led by researchers at the University of Roehampton is inviting current and previous milk donors to take part in an online discussion to talk about their experiences. The study is looking to better understand how families can be supported through their journey of donating breast milk, and gather feedback on some new nutritional resources that have been developed. The online discussion will be up to 60 minutes.

A huge thank you to The Roland Callingham Foundation (owner and manager of Bekonscot Model Village & Railway) for the generous donation of £1000, which has enabled us to buy a brand new medical grade freezer for The Hearts Milk Bank. 🎉 The new freezer is now full of pasteurised donor human milk at our main lab premises in Berkhamsted, which is ready to go out to tiny babies in hospital and at home. This will support families through difficult times and help save tiny lives. ❤️ We are very grateful to Bekonscot Model Village for your support! 🙏🏻

We were delighted to welcome Barbara, Terry and Lorraine to The Hearts Milk Bank today for a tour of the milk bank - thank you for coming to visit us! 🙏

Our CoFounder Gillian Weaver attended the APPG on Infant Feeding and Inequalities yesterday at the Houses of Parliament where Professor Amy Brown from Swansea University presented findings from the recent Infant Feeding Survey in England. Amy highlighted in her presentation that donor human milk was mentioned for the first time in the survey, as a feeding method which is significant step forward. Gillian asked questions that started a discussion on how best to ensure further questions about donor milk are included in the next survey, and the importance of donor milk in emergency scenarios, with some counties already developing breast milk reserves to prepare for possible future needs.

The APPG is chaired by MP Jess Fuller-Smith and was attended in person by Sharon Hodgson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Health and Social Care. It was wonderful to attend this important presentation and valuable discussion.

Gillian and Alison Meinel also discovered they were both coincidentally wearing our beautiful oxytocin bags from our charity gift shop ! 💕

Quiz time! Join us on Sunday 21st June at Vault 17 for the legendary Dale Collins’ fun quiz with our brilliant host Jason Savage! 🤩

A great fun evening for the whole family, with prizes every round and even a kids’ colouring round! Funds raised will go to our charity The Human Milk Foundation, helping us provide donor human milk to sick, premature babies in neonatal intensive care and at home, supporting families through times of crisis. 🙏🏻
