As week 3 of our HAPpy camp begins at the Swan Youth Project Berkhamsted we make a plea to all users of our green spaces. In Friday we went to the park near Berkhamsted Train station and it was foul. There was d lots of dog mess but to top it off there was rotten meat left in a bag. Dogs were accessing it and who knows what potential illness they can get from it. Our members use this park and this is clearly a health hazard. We are loving using green spaces so that kids can exercise and have fun without being on their phones. So please please use the bins provided or take your rubbish home. We all deserve a clean environment so take responsibility for your rubbish.

Hey All. A lovely sunny morning in Berkhamsted and just a gentle reminder that the very wonderful Lily will be hosting a book club at Berkhamsted library this Saturday from 11-12pm. A young person taking initiative to add something to their community so get down here and support her efforts. It is not always easy for young people to sept outside the norms so let’s celebrate those who are reaching out and setting a wonderful example of trying something new! Have a wonderful weekend.

Please support the incredible Lli on Saturday by attending. supporting community

What an end to the week and a HUGE thanks to Chef Jo Jo at Kings Arms, Berkhamsted for hosting a pizza making session for us. Incredible patience when talking members through the process of making pizza and no toppings were off the menu. We learnt that it takes 48hours to prepare the dough which is a testament to their passion for serving quality food. We all thoroughly enjoyed making and eating out pizzas. Thanks to the whole team for making us feel so very welcome. If you haven’t been here for food it’s a must do! Thanks to HCF for another enriching experience for members. So much fun connection and learning social interaction when eating out. Valuable lessons as well as ensuring no child goes hungry during the summer holidays. End of week 2. Can’t wait for week 3!!!

What an incredible session with HAPpy camp members. Such a lovely day at the park, playing@ pickleball, frisbee and running about like loons! Coming back preparing lunch of sticky rice, gyoza, noodles and banana bread for pudding. Challenge today was to eat with chopsticks and we had a laugh doing so. Wonderful seeing members trying new foods and trying their hand at new skills. Thanks to HCF for ensuring no child goes hungry during the summer holidays. You may be behind the scenes but we could not do this without you all. Thanks Team HCF.

A huge thanks to David Taylor MP & Victoria Collins for Harpenden & Berkhamsted during our meeting about the Dacorum Youth Hub. Thank you both for helping the Swan Youth Project Berkhamsted connect with partners working on a youth hub for Dacorum. Really positive to see cross party work being done to support young people within Dacorum. This collaboration highlights that despite the political differences we can work together for a better future for young people in our communities. Watch this space for more collaboration.

Had the opportunity to see Victoria Collins for Harpenden & Berkhamsted yesterday at the Civic Centre. An opportunity to learn about issues affecting us locally. Planning was amongst the top concern and it was great to hear that we all want to do more to stop overdevelopment. In addition I was so glad to hear that social media was a concern to many, something MP Collins has been highlighting over and over again in Parliament. We are seeing the end result of this as members are more aware of the dangers but also want laws to protect what they see. As one member of the Swan Youth Project Berkhamsted said once you have seen it you can’t un see it. Thanks for all the support you have given in highlighting this and many other issues affecting our young community.
