It’s this week! So join us as we got out on our bikes this morning and joined Harlow’s weekly led bike ride.

Organised by Hub+Spoke, Harlow, the rides meet at Harlow Museum every Saturday at 9.45am for a 10.00am start. A bike specialist is also on hand before set off to carry out any safety checks and minor repairs if needed.

There are three rides to suit all abilities:

🚲 A relaxed-paced Sculpture Ride (7–10 miles)
🚲 An intermediate road ride (around 20 miles)
🚲 A longer, faster road ride (around 30 miles)

Each ride includes at least a coffee stop or two and offers a great opportunity to socialise with other riders. All rides are led by experienced riders, and no one is ever left behind.

It’s this week! So we thought we’d get out and about and highlight just five of the many cycle routes to explore in Harlow.

Harlow is home to a *huge* network of cycle tracks, linking up all areas of the town.

With more than 30 miles of cycling routes, most places across Harlow can be reached within 30 minutes on two wheels.

If you’d like to explore even more routes, Harlow Council’s free Harlow Cycle Route Map is available to download here: harlow.gov.uk/streets-and-travel/travel/cycling

We recently went to visit Social.Active.Strong, a free 12-week programme designed to help people of all ages and abilities build strength, improve mobility, and maintain independence through regular physical activity.

We joined the Wednesday session at Harlow Playhouse, although they are run throughout the week - all across Harlow (we’ve popped all the details below).

Led by Kate Spillane, Strength and Balance Officer at Harlow Council, this session was so fun and supportive, and every one of every ability was encouraged to take part at their own pace.

Thanks to funding and support from Sport England, Active Essex, Harlow Council, these sessions are completely free for adults living in Harlow or those registered with a Harlow GP practice.

Sessions take place throughout the week at venues across Harlow:

✨Monday – 1.15pm, Moot House, The Stow
✨Tuesday – 10.30am, Harlow Baptist Church, Old Harlow
✨Wednesday – 10.15am, Harlow Playhouse (Studio 2)
✨Thursday – 10.00am, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bush Fair
✨Thursday – 2.00pm, Mind West Essex Hub, Potter Street

It’s this week across the UK, so we’re celebrating the many opportunities to get cycling in Harlow and the people who are getting involved 🚲

It was wonderful to meet Laura at one of our recent Essex Pedal Power bike giveaways in Harlow ✨

Laura applied for a free bike through the Essex Pedal Power scheme and collected hers at the event. She told us she’d wanted to cycle more for a long time, but the cost of buying a bike had been holding her back. We’re so pleased that she now has a bike of her own and can get out and about more easily.

Essex Pedal Power is an emerging cycling community that launched in Harlow in 2024. It offers free bikes, cycling support and a growing community to help residents lead more active lives by removing barriers to cycling.

The programme in Harlow is organised by Rainbow Services and made possible thanks to Harlow and Gilston Garden Town, Harlow Council, Essex Pedal Power and Active Essex.

*Sabrina Carpenter voice* please, please, please take our Harlow Active Families Survey 2026 🙏

We’re looking to learn more about how families in Harlow stay active and we need YOUR help!

If you are a family living in Harlow with children aged 0-16, we’d love to hear all about the activities you take part in, whether that’s organised clubs and groups, visits to local parks, walking, cycling, swimming, active play or any other ways you enjoy being active as a family.

We’d also like to hear about any fitness opportunities for families you might like to see in Harlow.

This survey is completely anonymous and should take no more than 2-3 minutes to complete. It will close on Monday 22 June 2026.

You can start the survey at: rainbowservices.org.uk/activesurvey2026

Thank you 🙏

Land on Your Feet is a fantastic course run by Harlow Judo Club designed to help older adults build strength, improve balance and reduce the impact of any falls.

It was fantastic to visit again recently and see so many new faces since the programme began.

It was also wonderful to be joined by Laurence Kenyon, Lead Officer for the Finding Your Feet programme at British Judo Association who came along to see the course in action here in Harlow.
