THIS SATURDAY (17th Oct), a group of us from Grantham Round Table 307 are taking on the Charity Canal Walk: Nottingham to Grantham along the towpath. That's 33 MILES, longer than a marathon, but with fewer cheering crowds and more aggressive swans. 🦆

12–16 hours on our feet. No shortcuts, no buses, no sneaky lifts. 😅

Why put ourselves through it? Because every penny goes into our community fund, shared out to the local groups and causes around Grantham who need it most. Your money stays right here, in our town. ❤️

⏳ JUST UNDER 2 WEEKS TO GO! ⏳

On Saturday 17th October, a group of us from Grantham Round Table 307 are taking on the Charity Canal Walk 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️ Grantham to Nottingham and all the way back again, on foot, along the canal. 12-16 hours, one almighty walk, all for our community!

We're already deep in training and the nerves (and excitement 😅) are building. Let's keep an eye on the weather over the next couple of weeks too 🌦️

🏃 Race Across Grantham — High Street Edition 🏆

Last night Grantham Roundtable and partners took over the town for an evening of cryptic clues, questionable decisions and some truly creative consumption choices at the Tollemache.

Teams were given tasks designed to test everything from their finest negotiating skills — persuading complete strangers to empty their pockets in exchange for absolutely nothing — through to ordering the strangest items at the bar. Highlights included a hairbrush, a scrap of paper, a TV in a church yard, a bag of sugar and, for reasons the judges are still processing, a plate of pickles.

Tasks were completed. Receipts were hunted. A What3Words address was decoded — eventually. The judges were entertained. Thoroughly.

A brilliant evening with a brilliant group of people — exactly what Roundtable is all about.

Grantham Roundtable

Hello all, if you are male and aged between 18-45 and looking to make new friends, try new activities and attend events then this group might be the place for you or if your partner is getting under your feet and you need some space for an hour or two every now and again.

We meet every other Tuesday and is a great way of forming new friendships and trying different things. In the past we have done:

Tours around local businesses, Grantham Museum.

We help out local communities and charities.

🏛️ What a great evening at Grantham Museum!

Last night we joined a fantastic talk on Grantham's history and some of its famous figures. Highlights included seeing the famous Compton Organ on display, with a brief update on its history, and getting a first look at the new Grantham train station display being put together. It was built by a gentleman in Sheffield and even had to be cut apart just to be transported here! There's so much more to it than what's currently on show.

Did you know the museum is free to visit? Kids can even dress up while learning all about the town's history 👗🎩

The museum is always looking for volunteers and donations to help keep these amazing projects running, so if you can help in any way, please get in touch with them.

🚨 WE’RE TAKING ON A BIG CHALLENGE FOR OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY! 🚨

On Saturday 17th October, members of Grantham Round Table 307 will be taking on our Charity Canal Walk — and we’d really love your support! 💛

We’ll be meeting at Grantham train station at 5:30am, catching the 5:42am train to Nottingham, grabbing some coffee/breakfast and then putting our boots on for the long walk back to Grantham along the canal.

🚶‍♂️ 12–16 hours on foot.
🌧️ Whatever the weather.
🔦 And there’s a good chance we’ll be finishing with head torches!

💰 Where does the money go?
Every penny raised from this challenge will go into our community account.
That money is there to support local community groups, clubs, schools and CIC groups.
Depending on the amount of funds raised, we will either choose some causes to split the total amount between, or open an application process for local groups to apply for funding.
And we know this money can make a real difference.

❤️ Last year we helped 9 local causes, including a community centre, a child with cancer and a local scout group.

⚔️ EN GARDE, GRANTHAM! ⚔️

Last night we threw down the gauntlet (and several foils - not swords!) for our Introduction to Fencing night, and what a pointe-less evening it was NOT! 🤺

Huge thanks to everyone who came along, dodged, parried, and occasionally just got unceremoniously poked in the ribs. You all showed real flair, even if some footwork still needs work (we won't lunge at naming names 👀). Special mention to whoever discovered that "fencing stance" and "about to sneeze" look remarkably similar.

But the real drama of the evening? 👀 Dan from Newark and District Round Table rocked up with a challenge and the regions' loser trophy on the line. Bold move, Dan. Brave, even. But the mighty Kyle stood his ground, blade held high, and saw off the challenge in style. 🏆⚔️

Alas, honour must be served both ways — the trophy makes its walk of shame back to Newark. Dan, we salute your courage and your continued custodianship of regional last place. Wear it well. 😂

By the end of the night we had riposte kings, touché queens, and at least one person who is now legally required to shout "HAVE AT THEE" before crossing any road.

A social night out, a chance to give back, and a 200-mile walk for CALM

Roundtable is a place for guys aged 18-45 to get together a couple of times a month — to socialise, get stuck into activities, and check in on each other. Because let's be honest, men aren't always great at talking about how we're really doing. But talking can change everything.

That's exactly what's driving one of our own right now. Daniel White from Lichfield Roundtable has just come off a weekend of sport and camaraderie — and is now walking 200+ miles from Billericay to Barry Island, in support of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a charity close to home for one of our fellow .
