Ho ho ho! It’s time to sign up for this year’s Santa Fun Run taking place in Wyndham Park on Sunday 6th December at 11am. Come along and join in the fun. 🤶🧑‍🎄🎅

The Grantham Santa Fun Run and Walk is a 2.5k route, with an optional extension to 5k. The route is set around the Wyndham and Queen Elizabeth Parks in Grantham. Raise money for your own Charity, Club or School. ​

Our second excellent speaker at last night's meeting was Hannah Sylvester, also known as the The District Herbalist. Hannah has an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything to do with the medicinal qualities of the plants growing around us, both in our gardens and the countryside and she shared some of this with is in a very accessible way. She is committed to provide outstanding herbal medicine healthcare support to her local community, having qualified with a First Class BSc [Hons] degree in Herbal Medicine from Lincoln University in 2010. Hannah leads workshops, gives talks and takes groups on herb walks between April and August each year and we hope to take part in one next year. Thank you, Hannah for a fascinating talk and all the tips you shared with us of how plants and herbs can help support our health.

We had an very enjoyable club meeting last night with a double bill of excellent speakers. First we heard from Daisy Bayman who we sponsored to do the RYLA course this year and has recently returned from her week of outward bound activities at Grafham Water. She gave us a fascinating and illustrated insight into her time on the course which she described 'intense, but stimulating and inspiring'. Daisy thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and teamwork, including sailing, kayaking and wall climbing, being a climbing coach at the YMCA in Newark herself. Her favourite activity was the overnight expedition where everyone got very wet. Daisy considers herself to be lucky to have had this experience which she describes as an 'amazing opportunity of a lifetime.'
We are sure that Daisy will have a bright future and we wish her every success as she begins her studies at Bangor University in North Wales.

Who likes an outing? We certainly do. Some of our members enjoyed an entertaining evening at Tolethorpe Hall where we watched Stamford Shakespeare Company's hilarious performance of 'One man two guvnors'. We have never laughed so much. If you'd like to join us you could come along too!

Good news! We are delighted to announce that we have a new member of our club. A very warm welcome from all our members to new Rotarian Elias Haddad, seen here with President Peter Berry and IPP Claire Storer, following his recent induction as a member. We are looking forward to Elias getting involved with all our projects and activities.

How many volunteers does it take to run a Rotary Charity Golf Competition? More than you think.
Thank you to the Golf Team of Rotarians Mary, Bob, Arthur, Claire, President Peter and Mike Ch for all their hard work. We are also very grateful to Rotarians from our Mother Club of Grantham and our sister club of Grantham Sunrise for their support. In addition , we are also indebted to our friends from RiverCare Grantham for coming along to help us too, together with our fellow club members, partners and friends. Some of our brilliant volunteers are pictured here. The success of the day was down to team work. Thanks too to the brilliant staff at Belton Park Golf Club for all their hard work.

Here are the results of our 23rd Annual Charity Golf Competition and some of the winners with their prizes. What a great day we all had at Belton Park Golf Club on Thursday.
The winners of the Stableford Competition, sponsored by Lievers Brothers, who received the Rose Bowl Trophy and £240 of vouchers and one box of golf balls were MKM BUILDING SUPPLIES.
Second place winning £160 of vouchers and two sleeves of golf balls each were FAIRWAY WANDERERS.
Third place winning £200 of vouchers and one sleeve of golf balls each were WHO'S YOUR CADDY.
The winners the Texas Scramble Competition, sponsored by Cashbrokers and MKM Building Materials and winning two bottles of w**e and a box of golf balls each were MKM KITCHENS.
Second place winning a bottle of w**e and a box of golf balls each were BAWTRY BANDITS.
The winner of the longest drive on Hole 18 winning a bottle of w**e and a box of golf balls was RUSS CLOUGH of Belton Parkers.
The winners of nearest the pin on Holes 4, 6, 14 and 17 and winning a bottle of w**e and box of golf balls each were NICK ROUTLEDGE from Farming Friends, STEPHEN BARNARD from The Happy Gilmores, ROY ALLEN from the Bomb Squad and IAN CARROLL from the Bomb Squad, with the prizes being sponsored by Cashbrokers and MKM Building Supplies. Congratulations to you all and many thanks to all who took part and to all our sponsors.
There were many prizes available for anyone who got a Hole in One, including £10,000 and an electric car but there were no lucky winners this year. Why not come back and try again on Thursday 27th July 2027 when we shall be holding our 24th Annual Charity Golf Competition.
