Evelyn's Butterfly Effect Our beautiful daughter Evelyn lost her battle with mental illness on 15th April 2022, aged 15 years. Evelyn was the kindest soul you could ever meet.

Encouraging random acts of kindness, social connection, and positive change around mental health 🦋

In memory of Evelyn, may the ripples of her kindness forever grow wider 💜 She was always thinking about others, and doing random acts of kindness to bring a smile to other people. Even in her darkest times, she went out of her way to help others with empathy and kindness. We've set up Evelyn's Butterfly Effect in her memory, to leave a legacy of spreading kindness. We'd love everyone to do a random act of kindness in Evelyn's name. By sharing stories and pictures of these, we will be able to see the ripple effect of kindness - Evelyn's butterfly effect in action.

This week, the latest data released by the Office for National Statistics showed that 6,162 deaths by su***de were registered across England and Wales in 2025. The numbers are heartbreakingly high.

Every single number represents a person who was loved, valued and is missed every day.

Our thoughts are with the families, friends and loved ones of all 6,162 people, and with everyone whose life has been touched by su***de.

At Evelyn's Butterfly Effect, we know that su***de is never just a statistic. Behind every loss is a family like ours, learning how to live with unimaginable heartbreak, friends carrying unanswered questions, and a community forever changed.

That is why we are so honoured and excited to be leading the Lincolnshire project for The Baton of Hope 2027. We believe that by sharing stories, encouraging conversations and supporting one another, we can help create a future where fewer families experience this pain and where more people feel able to ask for help when they need it.

🎄 TREE OF HOPE 2026 🎄

We know Christmas may feel a long way off...

But for many people, the festive season can be one of the hardest times of the year, especially when someone you love is no longer here. 💔

For the fourth year running, we are honoured to be part of the Grantham Christmas Tree Festival at St Wulfram’s Church Grantham

🗓️ 25-29 November 2026

Our special Tree of Hope stands in memory of those lost to su***de and as a symbol of hope for anyone who may be struggling. 💖🦋

If you have lost a loved one to su***de and would like them to be remembered on our tree, please send us the following by 31 October 2026:

📸 A photograph of your loved one
💌 A short message of love, remembrance, or hope (this will go on the back of the tag)
📧 Email: [email protected]

There will also be blank tags available at the festival for anyone who would like to add their own message of hope and support. ✨

Together, let's fill our Tree of Hope with love, remembrance, compassion, and hope.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re honouring Evelyn’s words, and her hope for a future where every person is met with understanding, not judgement.

"Physical and mental health should go hand in hand and unfortunately it's not happening at the minute, but this needs to change...
I want people to be given the help they deserve."
— Evelyn

Evelyn wrote these words as part of a speech for her English class while she was in a general hospital being treated for anorexia. She was asked to write about something she felt strongly about, and she chose mental health.

Even in the midst of her own struggles, Evelyn wanted people to be listened to, believed, and supported. She understood the importance of compassion, connection, and being heard.

Mental health is not an add‑on.
It’s not optional.
It’s part of being human.

Through Evelyn's Butterfly Effect, we're continuing her message.

Let's keep pushing for a world where compassion comes first, support is accessible, and no one feels they have to struggle alone.

✨ Wow! We are absolutely blown away!✨

A huge thank you to everyone who bid on a butterfly in our Garden of Hope Auction. We are delighted to announce that all 35 butterflies found new homes, with bids ranging from £5 to £50. Together, you helped us raise an incredible £656.71! 🎉

This incredible amount will be shared between Campaign Against Living Miserably and Grantham Samaritans, helping to support the vital work they do for those who need it most.

We love hearing about ripples of kindness 🦋

This little stone was painted at our stall at the Belton Estate, National Trust Community Festival, but it wasn't collected by the end of the weekend. It may have had a little help finding its way to the Grantham Canal path..... and now it's heading to Scotland next month to make someone else smile! 😊

It's wonderful to see how something so small can travel so far, connecting people and spreading a little joy wherever it goes. These small acts of kindness might seem insignificant, but they can mean so much to the person who discovers them 🥰

Kindness has a way of creating ripples. One painted stone, one smile, one thoughtful gesture can reach further than we ever imagine. 🦋

Thank you for sharing these stories with us. We absolutely love hearing about the ripples spreading in Evelyn's name 🦋💜
