The General Dental Council (GDC) has confirmed that the Annual Retention Fee (ARF) for dental care professionals will rise to £111 in 2027.

An extra £3 might not seem much, but looking at the bigger picture, the ARF has increased from £96 in 2025 to £111 in 2027 – a 15.6% rise.

Interestingly, the GDC previously acknowledged concerns about the financial impact on lower-paid professionals, particularly dental nurses, and calls for fees that reflect different income levels. Yet the same fee continues to apply to all DCPs, regardless of earnings.

On 24 October 2026, our next BADN Community Coffee Catch-Up will focus on a topic every dental nurse should be aware of – sepsis.
