Mary II was born at St James’ Palace in 1662. Mary was the eldest daughter of James, Duke of York - the future James II - and his first wife, Anne Hyde. Mary married her first cousin, William III, and would jointly reign with him for 6 years. She is buried in the Abbey and her life-size wax funeral effigy is on display in our museum.
