When we carry out clearances and waste management services, we don’t just see “waste” — we look for opportunity. If items can be reused, repurposed or redirected to a good cause, that’s always our first thought. One person’s surplus can truly become another community’s opportunity.

We recently received a referral from Oaklands Health Centre for a gentleman recovering from a double knee operation.

Following surgery, something as simple as sitting down and standing up can become a real challenge. His existing sofa was very low and well-used, making it difficult — and painful — for him to get up safely. This was slowing down his recovery and affecting his comfort at home.

Through our community recycle programme, we were able to provide him with a quality preloved sofa that offers better height, support and comfort. A small change in furniture, but a big difference to his independence and recovery journey.

At Wynsdale Community Connect CIC, we believe practical support in the home can have a real impact on health and wellbeing. By reusing good quality furniture donated by Wynsdale Group, we’re not only reducing waste — we’re supporting people when they need it most.

We had a wonderful time attending the recent A Warm Winter event, organised by our fantastic hosts Seashells Children & Families Centre – thank you for putting on such an important and well-run day!

Michelle from our Wynsdale Community Connect CIC team was there to chat about the support we offer for people whose home environment might be affecting their health and wellbeing. From hoarding coordination and declutters to help make safe pathways in the home, to biohazards, pest issues, and mould, we’re here to help people live safely and comfortably.

It was such a pleasure to meet so many brilliant organisations Green Doctors Southern Water National Energy Action Everyone Health - Kent Outreach Stop Smoking Service Age UK Sheppey helping residents keep warm, save energy, and improve their home environments this winter.

A big thank you again to everyone involved – what a great example of community support in action! 💚
