👥 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)
⏰ Friday 19th June - 18:15 - 20:00
🎟 RSVP https://forms.gle/x9NouEasCE9g4tNe8

🔸What is the purpose of the meeting?
The EGM is a chance to…
- Get updates on our work and the current state of SHRUB, including an interim financial report
- Ask questions and bring ideas forward
- Confirm new trustee’s appointment

We are still open to new nominations for trustees, so if you are interested in the position please do let us know via email at [email protected]

No further motions are planned for this EGM, therefore there will not be any proxy ballots as in the 2025 EGM.

🔸Who can attend?
To attend the EGM you must be part of one of these categories:
- SHRUB staff
- SHRUB volunteers who have completed a shift in the last 4 months
- Anyone with an active paid SHRUB membership e.g. 12 or 6 months membership

We will consider anyone who has purchased a membership or volunteered for a shift anytime before the official start of the EGM, so if you are interested in voting you can purchase a membership on our website, or if you are an inactive volunteer do sign up for a shift with your group in the next fortnight!

🔸Where will the meeting take place?
The meeting will be hybrid;
- In-person option at Paterson's Land, 11-37 Holyrood Road, EH8 8AQ (Room 1.19). We acknowledge that this location might not be accessible to everyone due to the lack of transport links. We are happy to take suggestions for alternative venues for future events.
- Option to join online; we will share the joining link in the days before the EGM

If you are interested in joining, either in person or online, please fill in the form at https://forms.gle/x9NouEasCE9g4tNe8 so we have an idea of numbers. (Link in 's profile description )

Our cooperative is in an exciting period of renewal and transition.

Although we have recently wound down our Zero Waste Hub, we continue to operate a thriving bike repair project in the Wee Spoke Hub, and support community led projects such as the Repair What You Wear and Sewing Café workshops and food rescue in partnership with The Pavillion cafe.

We are now in the process of developing a 10-year plan for the cooperative, in consultation with our members and the wider community, so this is an exciting time to join the organisation and contribute to defining our mission and vision for the future.

We are inviting applications to the role of Trustee from SHRUB members and others interested in contributing to the Coop’s development and evolution.

Current areas of work within the board include
- Welfare and HR
- Governance and Policy
- Finance and Fundraising
- Communications
- Social Enterprise
- Risk and Compliance
- Strategy and Vision

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience in Fundraising and/or HR who may wish to take a lead or specialist role in these areas.

💚 We’re happy to announce that SHRUB is one of the 34 local groups participating in the .futures.fund capacity-building phase!

✍️ From October - December 2025, we’ll be co-designing a proposal (for £50-£100k per year, over 10 years) to tackle the root causes of poverty, racism and the climate crisis in Edinburgh. A residents’ panel will decide which projects are funded in February 2026.

🌍 This is a huge opportunity to reflect on the future direction of SHRUB, explore how our activities deliver (or fall short) in addressing Systemic Change & form partnerships with other groups in the cohort! 🤝

👉 Can you commit 2–4 hours a week (Oct–Dec 2025)? 👈

📧 Please register your interest and outline your motivation for getting involved by emailing [email protected] by 30 Sept 2025.
