Last night mum and I went to see The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind musical

Such an inspiring story about a 13 year old who saved his village in Malawi from famine by building them a windmill without any formal training, just a dream and loads of tenacity!

Mum had read the book and watched the film and gave this stage adaptation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Exactly 18 years ago I took a leap of faith and landed in the UK.

I never thought I’d end up staying this long and although the weather still drives me nuts, it’s become my second home.

So it was lovely to share one of my favourite woodland walks with my mum on such a momentous day!

This weekend, my mum and I visited the stunning 6 acres of pure delight that is the Manor House garden in Haslemere.

The subtle and alluring scent of the rose garden and magical layout of the garden lingered with us long after we’d left.

Every weekend in June private gardena all around the UK open up to the public as part of the national garden scheme and funds are raised for various charities.

My mum is an avid gardener and has the greenest thumbs I know so she was in her element!

Day 22 - Sunday 29 March, 2026

I set my alarm for 4am so I could be up and out as soon as there was enough light as I had quite a bit of terrain to cover.

The only bus out of the area and into Oslo would be leaving Haukeliseter at 1pm so I wanted to get there by 12pm at the latest so I could pack down and be ready to board.

The descent into Haukeliseter was 😱⚠️‼️so I took my ski’s off, got on my bum and slowly slid down most of it.

But I MADE IT!!!! And it wasn’t until I’d finished packing up and was waiting for the bus that it truly dawned on me what I had just accomplished.

I hope you’ve enjoyed following this little micro-journal of my expedition. I’m now deep in throes of preparing and training for the Greenland crossing expedition in August so watch this space for more expedition shenanigans.

Mostly I hope I’ve inspired you to savour every beautiful moment that life gifts you and be brave enough to try that new thing you’ve been meaning to… you never know where that first step might lead!
