Country Bus Rallies - Kent & Sussex

This group of bus preservationists own and operate primarily GREEN London Transport buses. This Page was created for just the East Grinstead & Sevenoaks events.

Whether you are a bus enthusiast, a fifties fanatic, a number collector, a photographer, or someone who just likes a good day out, Country Bus Rallies are the thing for you. They used to happen on about four Sundays a year, during the warmer (if not drier) months. Preserved green London Transport buses, mainly from the fifties and sixties - and their drivers and conductors - plus a few red friends, gather together for a day running services around a market town somewhere in the London Country Area, places like East Grinstead and Sevenoaks, plus an annual Summer Holiday event in Eastbourne the latter which has its own page already. Events formally run may no longer operate as they used to.

It's that time of year again !

When the CBR team dust off the same old photograph and announce the date for our 2026 Bromley Route Recreation Day - Sunday 6th December !

Some of our regular buses are undergoing winter maintenance hence this year we are planning 3 - 4 RF operating on the 227 and 1-2 RT / RM on the 94.

RF28 is not available hence there will be no Green Line 725 service.

The 227 duties will be part of the normal TfL Sunday timetable and will run primarily Penge > Bromley North - Penge

We aim to publish the timetables in the next couple of weeks.

A big 'thank you' to the vehicle owners, drivers & conductors and everybody who came along to EG2026 - lots of happy smiling faces throughout the day and negligible traffic issues through the day !

Thank you also to the East Grinstead Bonfire Society crew who did a magnificent job manning the gates at either end of the High Street - without these guys the event couldn't take place !

See you all in 2027 !

Programmes going well, good loading on the services particularly on this warm sunny day, the open toppers.
Gate keepers holding back the other traffic making the High Street safer and our timetable organiser kept on his feet today keeping everything running smoothly as possible.

Apologies for a late in the day alteration. Go Ahead 7952 is now unable to attend so our Cancellations & Substitutions list is updated as below. We will now not be running any of the scheduled 438 journeys, it's too late in the day to recast other duties to partially cover.

The CBR shutters are now being pulled down, we will see you tomorrow.

Well, well ,well - another rabbit from the hat.

Reading of our earlier cancellations Edward & team have volunteered to bring their wonderful ex-Jersey Dart / Caetano to EG for the day ! She will be covering the 11.10 473, 13.25 424 and 15.16 235 departures. Amended vehicle subs and cancellations table below !

In the manner of our orange transatlantic friend - "we've done a bigly beautiful deal, the best deal ever, that's what everybody is saying....."

We're delighted to now confirm that Eastbourne Sightseeing 582, an open top Volvo B7TL/ TransBus ALX400 will be joining us on Sunday, running a special loop service, departing East Grinstead War Memorial at 11.55, 12.55 & 14.55 !

Looking forward to welcoming 582 & her crew to EG !
