Dear Members,

One of the highlights of our Centenary Celebration was the fascinating presentation by Libby Smith SPF, who traced the history of Dunfermline Photographic Association from its founding in 1926 through to the present day.

Libby has kindly provided the transcript of her talk, which I have now placed in the Members' Area of the website.

It is much more than a transcript. It contains a wonderfully researched history of the club, updated from Tom Scott's original work and brought right up to 2026, together with illustrations and examples of photographs from across the decades.

Whether you've been a member for many years or have joined recently, I think you'll find it a fascinating read and a reminder of the people, achievements and friendships that have shaped our Association over the last 100 years.

If you haven't seen it yet, we would encourage you to take a look in the Members' Area downloads page.

Many thanks to Libby for the tremendous amount of research and effort that went into producing this remarkable record of our first century.

📷 Dunfermline Photographic Association – 100 Years of Photography

We are delighted to share our Centenary Celebration page, featuring photographs, historical storyboards, archive material and video presentations from our special event marking 100 years of photography in Dunfermline.

Founded in 1926, DPA has evolved from the era of glass plates, film and darkrooms to today's digital world, while continuing to encourage creativity, learning and friendship through photography.

The page includes presentations by Libby Smith, Douglas Annan and Colin Prior, together with highlights from the exhibition and a look towards the next century of photography in Dunfermline and West Fife.

As we begin our second century, we look forward to welcoming new photographers, sharing skills and helping build an even stronger photographic community across our area.

We hope you enjoy exploring our first hundred years — and our vision for the future.

100 years ago, a small group of photography enthusiasts met in Dunfermline to form what became the Dunfermline Photographic Association.

Last month we celebrated that remarkable milestone with members, guests, speakers and friends, reflecting on a century of photography, creativity and community.

As we begin our second century, we're looking forward to welcoming new photographers, sharing skills and helping build an even stronger photographic community across Dunfermline and West Fife.

Celebrating local photography talent from across West Fife — here are the highlights from our recent Winter Safari Competition.

Congratulations to the winners of our Winter Safari Competition — The Green Team! A fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved.

Well done to everyone who took part in what was a superbly organised and creatively crafted session. The standard across all the team entries was excellent, making for a very engaging competition.

Our sincere thanks to Phil Cooke for providing his much-appreciated impartial assessment and thoughtful feedback on the evening.

Macro photography & Exchange Evenings with KPS were a hit! Thanks to Kirkcaldy Photographic Society and Ken Goodfellow for an inspiring talk on macro techniques and hands-on setups that let attendees practice lighting and close-up composition. Loved seeing the different cameras and approaches on show — a great mix of learning and social time. Read more and see photos: https://wix.to/PwTr0LS
