Big thanks to all. That’s 96 teams vouched for and we’ll collect the remaining pledges in this week. Draw will take place Monday before first kick off next Thurs night.
Your generosity has secured £240 each for the 2016 and 2017 age groups and simile amounts going to the folks that draw the finalists (£200 winner/ £40 runner up).
Good luck all!

⚽️2016s Step up in the Moor⚽️

The 2016s after a brilliant night in the Barrowfield dome on Friday took the trip down to face the Cleator Moor version of Celtic this morning to face a series of top ability opposition.
An early start saw the team face six English u10 opposition and despite giving away a fair few months in age, competed very well for the most part.
An early goal conceded in the opening encounter saw our kids pepper the Dalston net with one finding the net in an opening draw. An unfortunate OG saw the only goal of the game against Aspatria, another game that three points was at the kids finger tips with chances created but credit to the blocks and saves that prevented them hitting the net. A stalemate against Workington saw some stoic and at times last ditch challenges to our kids credit themselves.
Games four and five were against the top two teams in the tourni. First up was against the technically class hosts, Cleator Moor Celtic who’s passing and movement were exemplary. The Greystone kids to their credit, kept to their men tightly for the first 5mins and took the lead. A further few minutes of top effort made the hosts work the ball menacingly and they equalised and soon after took the lead. Their top intensity seen them run out winners and ultimately underline why they would go on to win the overall tourni.
The last 5-6 mins of that game rolled into the Gilford Park game and after a poor start, didn’t really hit form. An hour long break before the last game saw a right ding-dong battle with a more energised Greystone against Seaton Athletic, a proper end to end game with chances going aplenty at both ends, Seaton squeezing home the games single marker. Seaton would go on to lift the tourni plate.
Overall a great opportunity for the kids to play some slightly older but top teams from which they held their own more often than not and on another day would have at least a couple more W’s in the bank.
Todays PotD was awarded by Hugo to Jensen who jumped into covering a defensive roll against such good opposition.
Back to training this week as the rest of the squad prepare for their turn at English opposition when they attend the Carlisle Reivers tourni on Saturday next weekend before all available players head to Gretna on Sunday.

Tonight, our 2016 and 2017 teams took part in some competitive friendlies against Celtic Girls Academy.

Both age groups played some brilliant football, and stood tall and strong against some top talent from around the country.

The squad had the pleasure of getting to see and use some top tier facilities as well.

Big smiles and big hearts ❤️⚫️⚪️⚽️
