After the 1983 Five Nations Championship, which saw the England team finish last, five fans were given a humorous wooden spoon by Ireland supporters in a Dublin bar. This moment turned into a charity golf match that raised £8,500 for a special needs school, inspiring the founding of Wooden Spoon.
