As I'm sure you have heard the sad news about Age Concern closing their retail shops, our last trading day for both shops will be 17th April at 5pm
130 Tuckton Road
34 Bargates
Both shops have a 1/2 price sale on everything
So why not before it's too late to pop in and grab a bargain.
We will miss seeing all our customers and we wish to thank everyone who has supported us over the years..
We hope to see you before buying lots of bargains before we finally close our doors for the last time..
We wish you all well and thank you again...

Our Somerford Friendship Group, had the pleasure of having some entertainment from The Land Girls singers, yesterday Monday 31st. I think they all had a great time singing and waving their flags along..

We had the wonderful Bee Chumley vocalist, who came to entertain us at our Somerford Friendship Group yesterday, (Monday 17th March)
What a lovely voice and we all absolutely enjoyed listening to her.

Between myself and my volunteer today, we've come up with our Mother's Day/Easter window, so why not pop in and pick up a gift for a special mum for Mother's Day.

Genuine act of kindness!

Annoyingly we had a Radley handbag stolen from the window of our Age Concern Christchurch shop last week. I chose not to release cctv images or video, mainly because the lady who took it wasn't your "typical" shoplifter and was in her late 60s maybe? Naively maybe I felt sorry for her for some reason. Anyway, this morning a gentleman has come to our shop and was told by one of our shop leaders what had happened and he was appalled that someone would steal from a charity. Sadly it's a regular occurrence. He returned and so kindly donated £30 for our loss. This was a such a generous act of kindness and one that we are so grateful for. It even brought a tear to our shop leaders eye! 🥲 The gentleman wished to remain anonymous and wanted no formal thank you, but I wanted to put this out there to say thank you, if you do see this. My faith didn't need entirely restoring as I know there are more good people than bad, but it's definitely given it a boost. Thank you 😊

Today is International Day of Charity, a day that was created in remembrance of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. 🤗

This day celebrates the gift of giving, and how it can support thousands of people through simple acts such as donating time and items, as well as by simply supporting charity shops.

So, today, why not wander around the Christchurch charity shops and support a local charity in need? 🥰

ARE YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW ENTITLED TO PENSION CREDIT?

Across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, there are 383 households not claiming Pension Credit where they are entitled to do so. This equates to £10,578,877 in unclaimed benefits, according to data from Policy in Practice. The DWP estimates that £1.7 billion of Pension Credit went unclaimed by up to 1 million pensioner households in the financial year 2021/22.

Claiming benefits such as Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support is going to be even more important in the coming months, as it will mean that pensioners will continue to receive the Winter Fuel Payment.
