The CCP's vision is to alleviate social isolation and loneliness in the Christchurch area, which we do both by directly delivering services, and, equally as importantly, through working in partnership with other organisations and agencies also serving the community of Christchurch

🎉 Today's the day – ElderFest 2026 is here!

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone to GodFirst Church in Christchurch today, from 10am-3pm, for a fantastic day of information, advice, activities and community connections!

Here's a little reminder of what's on offer:

💚 Over 55 local organisations, services and community groups
💬 Free talks covering everything from fraud prevention and money advice to dementia awareness and energy saving
🩺 Free health checks and an NHS vaccination clinic
📱 Free tech support
🎶 Activities including seated exercise to music
☕ Free refreshments and plenty of friendly faces!

Entry is completely free and the event is open to all ages so do pop in, have a look around and see what's on offer. We'd love to see you!

💉 Need your flu or COVID vaccination?

The NHS vaccination team will be joining us at ElderFest tomorrow, Tuesday 27 October, offering eligible visitors the opportunity to get their seasonal vaccinations while they're at the event.

It's a convenient chance to get protected ahead of winter, with lots of other information, advice and activities to explore while you're there!

🩺 Free health checks and advice at ElderFest!

Teams from the local NHS and Health Sciences University will be joining us at ElderFest on Tuesday 27 October, offering free health checks and chiropractic advice.

It's a great opportunity to ask questions, get some helpful advice and find out more about looking after your health and wellbeing.

With over 55 organisations taking part, plus free talks, activities and refreshments, there's plenty more on offer too!

💙 Visiting ElderFest with someone you care for?

Our Quiet Lounge will offer a welcoming, relaxed space with activities for people attending the event with carers.

People receiving care can enjoy some time in the lounge while their carers take the opportunity to explore the stalls, talks and activities on offer.

We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating International Day of Older Persons at Somerford ARC Community Centre last Sunday! 💙

Around 70 guests joined us for a lovely afternoon of conversation, entertainment – and of course, plenty of cake! 🍰

We were entertained by the fantastic Resonate Choir, who serenaded us wonderfully whilst we tucked into an afternoon tea, and had lots of people singing along!

A huge thank you to our amazing team of 20 volunteers, including our bus drivers, buddies and Neighbour Car drivers, who helped make the afternoon possible.

It was a lovely opportunity to bring people together and celebrate the older members of our Christchurch community.

Today is International Day of Older Persons 💛

It’s a day to recognise and celebrate the older people in our communities, as well as raising awareness of the challenges older people can face in accessing support.

These lovely photos are from our International Day of Older Persons afternoon tea last year – and we’re really looking forward to bringing everyone together again this Sunday for this year’s celebration!

It’s always a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good company, conversation and plenty of tea and cake, while celebrating the older members of our Christchurch community and making sure their voices and experiences are valued.

If you want to know more about support and activities for older people in Christchurch, don't forget to join us at ElderFest later this month on 27 October too!
