It is finally here - our newly rebranded WI Magazine: and a new way to provide you deep-dives and longer interviews on all things NFWI.

Fittingly for a summer issue, we present 10 pages on beach life, and spotlight some wonderful coastal WIs. We've also got a new section where your questions are answered by a WI panel in 'WIsdom'; a piece on slow crafting; and all your favourites from recipes to campaign updates.

We really hope you enjoy your new magazine, and that you find it a great read for the summer!

This month was our annual resolution meeting. WI every year choose a resolution (put forward by members) of some countrywide project that we can get behind to effect positive change in our country.

In light of this we have one meeting a year to hear about, discuss and vote for the resolution that we will back with our vote at the National AGM.

Afterwards we enjoyed a cuppa and a spring quiz. This months competition was to bring a bookmark. There were some lovely ones on display!

It is nice to know that as well as loads of fun, friendship and learning - WI makes a real difference in the country too! 🇬🇧 💚

Last week we enjoyed a very informative demonstration by Joanne from Yorkshire Ambulance Service. She talked to us about using a defibrillator and walked us all through a hands on demonstration.

This goes hand in hand with last years WI resolution’Bystanders can be lifesavers’. A very important point is the fact that women are more likely to be left to die as bystanders are often afraid to do chest compressions on a woman they don’t know due to modesty issues.

The point was made that no matter how modest we are we would all rather have our chest exposed and live than maintain our modesty while people stand by and watch us die. If you see someone in need have a go - you might be a lifesaver!!

We had a great night at WI tonight with an informative demonstration by Daniel Wilkinson from Wilkinson butchers Doncaster all about sausage making!

Two of our ladies got involved too. Deborah Jenkins had a go at filling the sausage cases and our brave president Sue Denton did an admirable job of twisting it into links!

Daniel explained all about the process and the recipes that go into making a good sausage. It was an interesting, informative and highly entertaining evening!
