Lest we forget . Auckley WI did their Remembrance Day installation in the village this afternoon dodging the showers. Special thanks to Ian Ashley for his mallet and Gary from the Parish Council who brought the soldier they purchased to add to the display. A real community event.

We said goodbye to a founding member last week. 💔 Our dear Margaret Brownley passed away a few weeks ago.

Margaret was still an active member of Auckley WI, having attended monthly meetings right up until a few weeks before her passing.

At 94 she was our oldest member and she had been a part of Auckley WI from its inception in 1949! She was with us for our 75th anniversary in 2024. (Pictured here at that celebration with Joan Foster who left us last year)

Margaret had been a school dinner lady before she retired and had also served as a Brownie leader in Blaxton.

After retiring she kept busy helping with the WI markets, serving on Auckley Parish Council and playing bowls!

She has joined her husband Pete who passed on before her. She leaves behind a loving family with 2 children, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She also leaves behind many friends who will miss her smiling face at our Auckley WI meetings in future.

Cost will be £25 each for a 3 hour session, which includes all materials and tutoring.

If enough people want to do this we will look at arranging for next year.

WI Day…. 111 years what a fabulous achievement

Today two of us attended Bawtry WI’s Presidents Coffee Morning hosted by their President Penny in her garden. The weather stayed fine, there were loads of cakes, some great games. Lovely to chat to ladies from other WIs too. Thank you for the invite Bawtry WI hope you had a fruitful day.
