🚙🌧️ **Adverse Weather Driver Training – Another Great Weekend!** 🌧️🚙

This weekend, our team took part in our **Adverse Weather Driver Training**, an essential module for our Driver and Driver Support roles at Derbyshire 4x4 Response.

Our responders renew this training every three years to ensure their skills remain up to date and they’re prepared to operate safely when conditions become challenging.

While we can’t recreate the real-life challenges of driving through snow and flooding during a training session, we can put our skills to the test on wet and slippery terrain, practising vehicle control, judgement and safe driving techniques in difficult conditions. 🚗💨

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout, with both existing responders refreshing their skills and new members getting involved and learning alongside the team.

Training like this is vital to ensuring we can continue supporting the emergency services and our local communities when adverse weather strikes.

A massive **thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the training such a success!** 👏

**Train together. Stay prepared. Make a difference.** 💪

⚠️Storm warnings today and into the weekend⚠️

A yellow weather warning for wind remains in force across Derbyshire until 9pm today as Storm Austen brings strong winds to the county.

A further yellow wind warning is in place from 12pm Saturday until 9pm Sunday as Storm Boelo is forecast to bring more unsettled weather, particularly across the Peak District.

Please take extra care when out and about and be aware of the risk of fallen trees, debris and possible travel disruption.

📞 Before contacting us, please check our storm call table below, which explains what Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service will and won't attend during severe weather conditions.

Remember: Always call 999 if there is an immediate risk to life.

💙 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE ALAN BRENTNALL TRUST! 💙

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have received an incredible £10,000 donation from the Alan Brentnall Trust! 🙌

This generous donation will help us establish our very own drone team, including the purchase of a specialist drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera. 🚁

❄️ How will this make a difference?

The new drone will give us the capability to search for vehicles stranded on snow-covered roads, helping us locate vehicles in challenging winter conditions and provide valuable support to our emergency services.

🔥 Supporting emergency services in a range of situations

The thermal imaging drone will also provide a valuable capability during moorland fire operations, helping to identify heat sources and support situational awareness during incidents.

In addition, we will be able to offer our drone capability to support other emergency services whenever aerial assistance could be beneficial, providing an additional resource to help them carry out their work safely and effectively.

The £10,000 donation will cover:

✅ The thermal imaging drone
✅ Essential support equipment and accessories
✅ Specialist training for our team
✅ The necessary insurance to operate safely and responsibly

This is a fantastic step forward for our organisation, allowing us to expand our capabilities and provide practical support to emergency services across a range of incidents, from severe winter weather to moorland fires.

From everyone in our team, a massive thank you to the Alan Brentnall Trust for their generosity and support. Your donation will help us develop this important new capability and make a real difference when our communities need us most. 💙

💚 World Mental Health Day – 10th October 💚

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we want to remind everyone that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

At Derbyshire 4x4 Response, we understand that supporting others can sometimes come with its own challenges. Whether responding to emergencies, assisting our emergency service partners, or dealing with difficult incidents, the impact on mental wellbeing should never be overlooked.

That’s why we’re proud to have members of our team trained as Mental Health First Aiders and Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) practitioners. 💚

Our commitment to looking after people goes beyond the communities we serve. We recognise the importance of looking after our own responders, offering support when difficult experiences take their toll, and helping ensure that nobody feels they have to struggle alone.

You don't have to be in crisis to ask for help, and you don't have to face things alone.

Today, and every day, let's keep talking, keep listening, check in on one another, and remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Look after yourself. Look after your mates. It's okay not to be okay. 💚

🚙 Another productive member meeting for Derbyshire 4x4 Response! 🚙

Last night, our team came together for another important member meeting, focusing on situational awareness and dynamic risk assessment — essential skills that help our responders stay safe, make informed decisions, and operate effectively when supporting emergency services and our communities.

We were also delighted to welcome six potential new members who joined us to find out more about what we do and how they could become part of our team! 👏

As Derbyshire 4x4 Response continues to grow, training, teamwork, and developing our capabilities remain at the heart of everything we do.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, and a warm welcome to our prospective new recruits. We look forward to seeing what the future holds! 💚

Want to make a difference in your community?

We're always keen to hear from people who want to volunteer and be part of something meaningful.

🏁🚙 Derbyshire 4x4 Response supporting the MCC Edinburgh Trial 🚙🏁

It’s been a busy one for our responders this weekend as Derbyshire 4x4 Response provided support for the MCC Edinburgh Trial.

From Friday evening, throughout the night and right through to Saturday evening, our teams were out across the various stages providing course car support and vehicle recovery.

Working across the stages, our responders were on hand to assist with vehicles that found themselves in difficulty, help keep the event moving and provide support wherever it was needed.

It was a long shift for our volunteers, with some of the team working through the overnight hours before continuing into Saturday — but their commitment, teamwork and professionalism never wavered. 💪👏

A massive thank you to all our responders who gave up their time to support the event, whatever the hour and whatever the conditions. It’s your dedication that makes this possible. ❤️

And of course, a big thank you to the MCC for having Derbyshire 4x4 Response along to support the Edinburgh Trial.

🏁 Another event supported. Another job well done. 🚙💨 now time for some well overdue sleep 😴
