We're really looking forward to our new series which starts this Sunday.

PROMISES - Words we can confidently stand on

We live surrounded by promises — from governments, from adverts, from every five-step plan telling us life will be better if we just follow the programme. Most of them, if we're honest, don't hold.

From Sunday 6th September, through to Advent, we're spending 8 Sundays with a different kind of promise — the ones God has actually made, and kept. Each week we'll ask the same three questions:
* What does this tell us about who God really is?
* How do I stand on this in my own life, especially when circumstances say otherwise?
* How does it shape the way we show up for the people around us?

It's a series about confidence that doesn't depend on the news cycle — come and join us as we dig in together.

We meet every Sunday at The Abbey CE Academy School, 1 Friary Close, Daventry NN11 4FL. Refreshments from 10.15am, service starts at 10.30am.

We'd love to see you there.

🙏 A Prayer for Those Who Work in Education

Father God,

Today we want to thank You for every person who works in a school, college, nursery, university, or any educational setting.

We thank You for the teachers who teach, the teaching assistants who support, the office staff who organise, the cleaners who care for the environment, the cooks who provide meals, the caretakers who keep things running, the pastoral teams who listen, the leaders who carry responsibility, and every person whose work may sometimes go unseen.

Lord, You see them.

You see the early mornings, the long days, the preparation, the paperwork, the meetings, the difficult conversations, the worries they carry home and the countless small acts of kindness that nobody else notices.

We pray that You would strengthen them when they are tired.

Give them patience when the day is difficult, wisdom when they don't know what to do, compassion when someone is struggling, courage when they need to speak up, and grace when things don't go according to plan.

Help them remember that their value isn't determined by how much they accomplish.

Remind them that they are Your children before they are teachers, leaders, assistants, administrators or support staff.

Give them moments of joy in their work.
Give them laughter when they need it.
Give them good people around them.
Give them wisdom for the children and young people in their care.

And Lord, we particularly pray for the children and young people they look after.

Help these workers to see beyond behaviour—to see the child who may be hurting, the teenager who may be frightened, the young person who doesn't believe in themselves.

Give them eyes to notice the one who feels invisible.

Give them words that build up rather than tear down.

And may the people who work in education be reminded that sometimes one kind word, one listening ear, one encouraging teacher, one person who believed in a child can change the direction of a life.

Lord, protect them from carrying burdens that aren't theirs to carry.

When they go home, help them leave the day's worries in Your hands.

Give them rest.

Give them peace.

Give them strength for tomorrow.

And when they wonder whether what they do really matters, whisper to their hearts:
"I see you. I see what you do. And it matters."

We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus.

Amen.

This Sunday there will be no service, but we look forward to seeing you the following week.

This Sunday we will be continuing our summer acoustic style worship/discussion meetings at The Abbey Academy and will be working through the book of Philippians. This Sunday - 16th August we will be focussing on Chapter 3. If you would like the study book which accompanies these gatherings, please email [email protected], there will be some available every Sunday. We invite you each week to come with something to share that God has put on your heart from the weekly chapter.

We also thought that it would be a lovely opportunity to share food together afterwards, so if you have the time, stay a little longer! This week there will be bacon butties served after the meeting. There will be gluten free and vegan options available.

There will also be craft activities/fidget toys available for the children along with some outdoor toys. Parents will remain solely responsible for their children throughout the morning - the Vineyard Kids Leaders will be having some down-time!

We're pretty much half way through the school summer holidays and the Food Bank Daventry has seen an increased number of large families having to use us.

If you would like to support the work we do in our community, please visit the website for details on how we can work together to help those less fortunate.

Throughout August we will be holding acoustic style worship/discussion meetings at The Abbey Academy. We are really grateful that the school are allowing us to use their site this summer.

We will be holding these meetings for the first four weeks of August with the last being the Bank Holiday Weekend and a week off for everyone.

We have chosen the book of Philippians to work through together and have produced a study book to aid everyone. (If you would like the study book which will accompany these gatherings, please email [email protected]) We invite you each week to come with something to share that God has put on your heart from the weekly chapter.

We also thought that it would be a lovely opportunity to share food together afterwards, so if you have the time, stay a little longer!

Week 1 - cream tea
Week 2 - light chicken/vegetarian alternative and salad
Week 3 - bacon butties
Week 4 - selection of pastries
(We will of course make gluten free/dairy free options available)

There will be craft activities/fidget toys available for the children along with some outdoor toys. Parents will remain solely responsible for their children throughout the morning - the Vineyard Kids Leaders will be having some down-time!
