Weekly Tuesday webinars cover an introduction to NHS Scotland, application advice, skills alignment and an open Q&A where attendees can ask questions about joining the organisation.

Whether someone is preparing to leave the Armed Forces, has already transitioned, or is simply exploring their options, these sessions provide practical guidance and tailored support for their next step.

Operation Cairngorms is launching Wild Reconnection.
Eight three-day residential retreats at our woodland site in Tarland, Aberdeenshire, running from November 2026 through to June 2027. Fully funded by the Veterans' Foundation, this programme is open to any military veteran, whether you've done a course with us before, or this would be your first time. Each retreat has its own seasonal theme: stewardship, craft, resilience, conservation, woodworking and more - building practical skills, confidence and a real community across the seasons.

VERA is now available in the centre!

What is VERA?

VERA (Virtual, Expert, Remote Advice)

The digital touchscreens, known as VERA (Virtual, Expert, Remote Advice) provides confidential, up to date guidance on cost of living support. VERA is a large, easy to use touch screen that offers immediate access to local information and support from a range of services including benefits, debt, housing, health and direct links to supporting agencies, and the option to book a phone or in-person appointment with a CAB Adviser. Having VERA devices based where veterans are already frequenting aims to help increase different ways to access support. VERA connects people with help from organisations including Midlothian Council, SSAFA - Edinburgh & Lothians, Poppyscotland, Rock 2 Recovery UK VOCAL and Dalkeith Citizens Advice Bureau.

VERA units are placed in accessible community hubs, reducing the need for travel and ensuring more people can receive timely support. Alongside LVC, there are VERAs in:

• Gorebridge Library
• Lasswade Library
• Loanhead Library
• Mayfield and Easthouses Development Trust Pantry
• Penicuik Library
• Woodburn Community Hub

FEMALE VETERANS DROP-IN
3RD SEPTEMBER

This is a wee reminder that our next female veterans’ drop-in is this Thursday (3rd September) 5-8pm.

Ladies, you are invited to come along and socialise with other ex-servicewomen in an all-female, safe and welcoming environment and get any other support you may need.

We will provide pizzas, cakes and drinks, all you need to do is turn up between 5pm and 8pm. You can bring kids if you have no childcare and we can also reimburse the cost of transport.

We look forward to seeing our regulars as well as any new women that would like to join us!
