Metal Technology teams complete Belfast City Marathon 2026 and present £20,041 cheque to Brainwaves NI

On Sunday 3rd May, Metal Technology teams proudly took part in the Belfast City Marathon 2026, in memory of their dear friend and colleague, Timmy Cummins, who died from a brain tumour in 2023. This year’s event was dedicated to raising funds for Brainwaves NI, the charity that provided vital support to Timmy and his family during his illness.

The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and shared memories as the Metal Technology team honoured Timmy’s incredible 20+ years with them – a period marked by his outstanding technical expertise, dedication to customers, and the many friendships he built across the industry.

The teams took on the challenge in relay format, with many stepping into long-distance running for the first time. It has been fantastic that so many have continued their running journey beyond the event, a testament to the team spirit and commitment shown throughout.

With the support of customers, suppliers, family and friends, Metal Technology is proud to have raised an incredible £20,041, more than doubling their original target of £10,000! Brainwaves NI thanks everyone who contributed and provided support along the way.

Following the event, Brainwaves NI was delighted to formally receive the cheque. This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support received in Timmy’s memory, something that is deeply appreciated by both Metal Technology and the Cummins families.

A huge well done to all involved. The day was rounded off with some well-earned food and refreshments as the team reflected on a brilliant achievement and a fitting tribute to Timmy.

We're incredibly grateful to the Kilcronaghan for choosing Brainwaves NI as their charity partner for this year's Art Exhibition & Cream Tea Fundraiser.

The group has selected Brainwaves NI because several of its members have been personally affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, making this cause especially close to their hearts.

Join them on Saturday 20th June, from 12pm - 4pm at the Kilcronaghan Centre, Tobermore, for an afternoon of art, creativity and conversation. There will be beautiful paintings and other items for sale, along with home bakes, plants, cream tea and refreshments - with all proceeds supporting Brainwaves NI and the families we serve.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved for their kindness, generosity and support. We hope to see you there! 💜

Brain tumours can affect anyone, at any age, and their impact reaches far beyond the diagnosis itself. Through support services, community connection and funding vital research, Brainwaves NI continues to support families across Northern Ireland affected by brain tumours.

Today, we encourage you, our community, to help raise awareness, start conversations and thank you for continuing to support our work.

A heartfelt thank you to Andrea and Halle Peoples for presenting a cheque for £1,143.48 to Brainwaves NI.

The funds were raised through fishing memorial matches held in memory of Ricky Peoples by The Classic Competitors Fermanagh (£967.00) and Bann Match Club, Portglenone (£176.48).

We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in organising, supporting and taking part in these events. Your generosity helps Brainwaves NI continue to provide support and services to individuals and families affected by brain tumours across Northern Ireland.

Thank you for honouring Ricky's memory in such a meaningful way and for choosing to support our charity.
