My colleague Cllr Katherine Newman and I will bring this Notice of Motion before Committee on the 15th of June.
If we are serious about ending violence against women and girls we need to:
👉 Increase funding to organisations such as Women's Aid.
👉 Fund refuge and direct services as opposed to only prevention work.
👉 Create an emergency fund for women and girls in domestic abuse situations.

Thank you so much to Cllr Frances Burton for visiting us and presenting us with a cheque for £550 on behalf of Mid Ulster District Council!

Your support is invaluable and this money will support the women children and young people we work with 💜

As her term comes to an end, Chair of the Council, Cllr Frances Burton is pictured presenting a cheque with representatives from Women's Aid.

Money was raised from ticket sales at two of our successful Women's events that took place in March of this year.

Mrs Fiona Walker, Refuge Support Worker at Causeway & Mid Ulster Women’s receives a donation of £450 from Olivia McBride Year 12B, for money raised through several Form class coffee mornings. Moved by the increasing reports of violence against women, especially within Northern Ireland, Olivia wanted to support those women affected and set about organising this initiative throughout the year. Well done, Olivia, for raising awareness of such a pertinent issue in our society, one she hopes to continue in Year 13.

Big thank you to Olivia and all staff and pupils who supported the events.
