45 years this month, May 1981, Colwinston Youth Club opened in the new village hall. Since then thousands of young people have passed through our doors. We still have contact with some of the first young people who joined us then and now we have many children of former members in the club. Lots has changed over 45 years but we remain volunteers, committed to serving the young people of Colwinston and the surrounding area.

Last night members played football, pool, play station, used the playground, did some craft, rode the ripsticks, talked a lot and played with friends. We asked 20 of them why they came to youth club they all said "to hang out with our friends "
Would they be better off at home with their smartphones on social media like "normal" children?
No newd to ban children from social media, just give them an alternative

Some parents have been asking why they sometimes see the Police in youth club on Fridays. What's wrong?
Our Pcso calls in about once a month, she chats to volunteers and our members, keeps us updated on current issues and listens to any concerns we have. Sometimes she gets beaten at table tennis.
She a welcome visitor, no there's nothing wrong.

It was great to have a visit feom Kanishka Narayan MP last night. A lively discussion with members over social media. Kanishka is Minister for AI and consulting on a possible ban for under 16's. Good of him to seek the views of young people in rural areas where social media plays an important part in young people's lives. Not much support for a ban here
