Last night was CWO A Mumford last night after 7 years in the Corps, he has been an exceptional cadet, and 2426's first cadet to attend IACE, first Gold leadership, and was our Dacre Sword candidate in which he reached region, this in itself is an incredible achievement. His brassard is adorned with gold badges, which shows how committed he has been to his Sqn, Wing and Corp.
He has been an absolute pleasure to have on Sqn and has been an amazing role model for newer cadets and even slightly older cadets alike. Words cannot express how deeply proud I am of him, with many messages sent to him by WO Burman and Wg Cdr Butler in their absence, safe to say there wasnt a dry eye on final parade. Now as CWO Mumford leaves to go to camp Canada in the next few weeks and then start University in September studying Met police and ultimately joining the police force, the door has been left open for him to join us as staff when he is ready.
Good Luck Aidan from all of us at 2426, we hope you get everything you wish for as you wade through this new chapter of your life. You will be missed.
Also on final parade was our Cadet of the Month, which was awarded to Cdt Schutrups, he has shown how committed he is to his sqn, with his shy demeanor completely smashed when he was at the RFC festival recently and always asking staff if they require any help, not to mention that his uniform is ironed and correctly presented. He has shown that he deserves the award. Well done 👏

Last night 2426, had an evening of fun off sqn.Last night we had the privilege of going to Pencoed Fire Station. At first staff thought we had brought different cadets as they were all so quiet, but as the evening progressed we realised that we did indeed have our cadets. Both staff and cadets learned what they do, how they do it and also their rank structure.
In turn we got to try on breathing apparatus which going by Cpl Davies-Evans is much heavier than a full DofE rucksack. Then we got to feel how heavy their cutting equipment was, and boy was it heavy, then cadets got to try on their version of a hazard suit, which was referred to as something similar out of monsters Inc- "we have a 2219 people" if you know you know. We then had some fun with the fire hoses, where the cadets thought it fun to soak their OC(unintentionally), and finally finished off with a race between our "volunteers " WO Burman and cadet Sergeant Tinsley to find out who could get the full kit on first.
Overall a fantastic evening with plenty of smiles all round, the weather was on our side, so cadets and staff who got wet, quickly dried off. A great opportunity for team building especially between our newer cadets who are still finding their feet.
Thankyou to Pencoed Fire station for having us, and giving us some useful advice.

At 2426 Pencoed Sqn, we dont sit around waiting for the next big thing to happen, we make it happen, last night was a mix bag of training, from those starting blue space, to those completing bronze space who have been working on it for some time, instead of rushing through the syllabus. And those who were already at bronze level started working on their MOI lesson plans in preparation for their practice lessons before they are then assessed.
Im pleased to announce that:
🚀Cpl Davies-Evans and Cdt Ramsden were awarded bronze space
🥁Cdt Best was awarded Bronze Music(drums) for his participation at the ATC 85th Anniversary Parade in February and being at grade 3
🧩and finally Cdt Exall D for gaining his Blue Leaderdhip badge.

Well done to all of you and for those who wish to do silver Space, im sure Wing will be putting on an event later in the year. 😉
Be proud of yourselves as you worked hard to gain these. Now looking forward to seeing them on your brassard(those who have uniform)

Last night was part 2 of blue leadership, with different scenarios, they worked extremely hard to prove that they could follow SMEAC, and then pass this on to their team.
Cpl Castle, Cpl Davies-Evans and Cdt Schutrups achieved their blue leadership badge, which they will now use and implement in their roles as Cpl and Cdt.
Congratulations to all three of you.

Some of our cadets are also part of other clubs, and rarely let the grass grow under their feet- im sure we all know that feeling. As an ex cadet in the 90s i was mainly out doing cadet activities or helping with my friends horse and goats, so its fantastic to see our cadets fully living life to the full, here are some of our cadets and their achievements:
🏉Cpl Castle- is the captain, and they won the Pencoed RFC U13s plate. Also won the South Wales regional U13s plate in cardiff arms park in March.
🥋 Cdt Houghton A-has been busy over the last couple of weeks. She has achieved the Grand champion award and European championship this Saturday.

Just because you are a cadet, doesn't mean you forgo what your already doing. The Cpl and the Cadet has shown that you really can have your cake and eat it.

Congratulations on your achievements 👏
A very proud OC here.
