Yesterday evening at the Scout section meeting we had a visit from a team of officers from Thames Valley Police. A mixture of PCSO and regular officers. After introductions, we heard about the work they do. Their experiences on the job - including some amusing!! . A demonstration was given of the approach to attach handcuffs, try on a riot helmet and hold a riot shield. Also they brought a "KEY" for forced entry. ie. A big lump of metal used as a battering ram! . An explanation was given about the equipment the officers are required to carry with them. One officer included carrying a Tazer. But of course no demonstration was given! Later on in the evening two lady officers arrived bringing a new Police patrol car. The Scouts were permitted to sit in the car and press the buttons for the blue light and siren!! A great fun evening was had by all!!
