Welcome to Holly's Heroes – a charity born from the heartbreaking journey of a young girl who showed us the true power of joy, even in the darkest of times. We are here to support children and their families affected by cancer, offering experiences that bring fleeting moments of happiness and lasting memories amidst their battle. Holly West was just 12 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer. During her courageous fight, we saw firsthand how a moment of joy, a simple smile, or a shared laugh could brighten her world, even as she faced the harshest realities. Tragically, we lost Holly in October 2024, at just 14 years old, a reminder of how fleeting life can be. In February 2025, we founded Holly’s Heroes as a registered charity to continue her legacy and ensure that other children fighting cancer can experience the same light and joy that Holly was so fortunate to feel. Holly’s strength, her laughter, and her unwavering hope have inspired us to give back, to be the heroes that so many charities were for us during her battle. Our mission is simple, yet profound: to bring moments of happiness, fun, and hope to children and families affected by cancer. We strive to offer experiences that create lasting memories, not just for the children but for their families, so that even in their hardest moments, they can find a spark of light. We do this to honour Holly's spirit, her resilience, and the joy she shared with us all, even in the most difficult days. With each smile we bring, with each memory we create, we are reminded that even in the shadow of loss, love and joy can still bloom. Holly’s Heroes is here to ensure that no child ever has to fight alone, and that every moment of happiness we give is a tribute to the brave soul we lost too soon.

But when so much of family life has become appointments, treatment, hospital stays and uncertainty, those few hours can mean everything.

A chance to laugh together. To feel normal. To watch your child simply enjoy being a child. And to make a memory where cancer isn’t at the centre of it.

For Mark, supporting Holly’s Heroes isn’t just about raising money for a charity. It’s personal.

Mark is dad to Freddie, who became best friends with Holly’s brother Will at primary school. Through the boys’ friendship, our families became friends too, with Mark’s wife Nicki becoming a close friend of Emma’s.

When Holly’s Heroes was created, Nicki became a trustee and from that moment, it really did become something the whole Sayer family got behind.

Mark might not have the official trustee title, but anyone who knows Holly’s Heroes knows just how much he does.

Last month, he completed the London to Brighton bike ride for the THIRD time for Holly’s Heroes. But his support goes far beyond the miles on a bike.

As a sponsor of Ashford Town FC, Mark has personally paid for Holly’s Heroes advertising at the club, helping us share Holly’s name and the work we do with hundreds of people in our local community.

He supports the events, the fundraising and the endless ideas that come with having a wife who is incredibly passionate about the charity. Usually without ever asking for any recognition himself.

And that’s exactly why we wanted to give him some.

Today at 22:19, 2 years ago, I lost my baby. It’s hard to believe I haven’t spoken to her, touched her or heard her voice for 2 years.

There are no words that can take this pain away, we miss her so much and wish with everything she was still here. That night I didn’t just lose my daughter, I lost my best friend and my hero.

This beautiful poem was written by Anita (the loveliest lady, who adored Holly) shortly after we lost Holly, we added it to the order of service at her funeral as it is a stark reminder of Holly’s battle and that she was just a child.
