Summer holidays can be expensive, and we know this can be a worrying time for families.

Our Pathways project can offer support, advice, and help with holiday‑related costs.

If you’d like to speak to someone, please get in touch with Bev for a confidential chat about what support might be available.

Thanks to you, we’ve been able to provide underwear recently to Pelican Parcels, a charity supporting families in the Brighton & Hove area and Sussex with clothes and basic needs.

On behalf of the organisation, Elaine thanked Smalls for All, saying, “Thank you so much from the Pelican Parcels team. Underwear is an essential in all our clothing packs; we could never add the quantities we do without the amazing, continued support of Smalls for All. Adding brand new packs means we can help our families meet a basic but important need with dignity.”

Thank you for helping us to help them,
Maria. 🩲🩳🙏

Donations of new pants and new or gently worn bras can be sent to Smalls for All, Five Sisters Business Park, Westwood, West Calder, EH55 8PN

We celebrated the end of "volunteers week" (a week late) with delicious treats from the Homestead today. Those that could not attend were given a voucher to use this month. Big thank you to the Homestead ladies for the treats and beverages. And also a big shout out to all our volunteers, what a team we are.

For our final Volunteers’ Week post, we’re celebrating someone who works mostly behind the scenes, Angela. Who created and manages the software we use at the Larder and also looks after our social media.

Why she volunteers:
“I like to use my skills to help my community while advocating for a cause that I'm passionate about.”

Thank you, Angela. Your ideas, organisation and digital magic help keep the Larder running smoothly every single week.

Say hello to Jack, who helps with FareShare deliveries and other pickups that bring vital supplies into the Larder.

Why he volunteers:
“I do it because it helps me to feel a part of the community.”

Thank you, Jack. Your hard work behind the scenes keeps food moving where it’s needed most.

Today’s spotlight is on Leah, who keeps our recycling schemes running like clockwork and helps our community reduce waste every single week.

Why she volunteers:
“I deal with all the recycling at the Larder, from batteries to milk bottle tops to ink cartridges and so much more! I have loved re-designing the recycling area, making it bright and eye catching!
My aim is to encourage recycling everyday waste that would normally be chucked in the bin and support some great causes in the process.”

Thank you, Leah. Your enthusiasm and commitment to sustainability make a real difference to the Larder and the wider community.

So it was with great pride that I attended the Borders Community Action volunteers event last night with my "right and left hand men" in recognition of their hard work at Coldstream Community Larder.

All of our volunteers are simply amazing and we could not function as we do without them, it's a pity we could not let them all come along.

Ross and Jack are often available at a moment's notice and to date, have never not been available to attend when I shout on them (which is frequently I can assure you). No job is too big or too small for them and they make my (and others) job at the larder so much easier. Thank you lads and long may you continue this great work with us.
