What a fabulous 2 days we have just had hosting RHET Scottish Borders Countryside Initiative Estate Days for Kelso High School and Eyemouth High School’s outgoing S2 and S1 respectively.

Over the 6 sessions offered each day, the young people learnt about different aspects of the estate and were made aware of the wide ranging job opportunities and career paths involved.

Huge thanks go to the estate’s gamekeeper, Cheviot Trees, The Tweed Foundation, RHET volunteer farmers, Field to Fork The Hirsel for their informative and passionate input, and to the volunteer group leaders each day.

We had some amazingly creative animal homes and wonderfully scary Gruffalos sculpted at Field to Fork Friday last week before marshmallows and fruit were toasted on our campfire 🪵🐾🦔

Join us for Field to Fork Friday family fun and learning in the woods on the Hirsel Estate on Friday 28th November.🍁🌲🍂

Choose to join either our morning session which runs from 10.30 - 12 noon, or the afternoon one which runs from 2.00 - 3.30 pm when we will explore autumn giving way to winter and warm ourselves round our campfire.🔥😊

We have had a fantastic couple of days at the Hirsel this week hosting RHET Estate Days for S2 pupils from 2 of our local high schools.☀️

On Tuesday almost 100 pupils from The Berwickshire High School and on Wednesday around 70 pupils from Jedburgh Grammar Campus Secondary enjoyed learning about different aspects of a working country estate thanks to our estate gamekeeper, RHET Scottish Borders Countryside Initiative farmer volunteers, River Tweed News, Tweed Forum, Allan Telford and our own team at Field to Fork The Hirsel. 🚜🌳🎣🍞

Huge thanks to RHET Scottish Borders for their efficient organisation of the days, as always, which give our young people such valuable insight into future opportunities available to them.
