Another fantastic Friday evening on the water! ⛵️

This week our cadets took to the water for a sailing session. A special mention goes to one of our cadets who arrived feeling quite hesitant about going out on the water. Instead of letting those nerves win, they challenged themselves to give it a go – and by the end of the session they absolutely loved it! Moments like these are exactly what Sea Cadets is all about: stepping outside your comfort zone, growing in confidence and discovering what you’re capable of.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for giving up their Friday evening to make opportunities like this possible for our young people. We’d also like to thank Helensburgh Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets for letting us use their sailing kit and helping us get more cadets out on the water.

Well done to everyone who took part – we can’t wait for the next session! ⚓️💙

This week, we’ve had a conspicuous absence from unit activities. Our Unit Senior Cadet - POC Sam.

She does have a pretty good reason however, she has traded the unit for the TS City of London, one of the Sea Cadets’ yachts for a week long voyage around the Channel Islands.

On the voyage she is learning all kinds of Sailing competencies and of course, enjoying the warm weather of the English Channel.

Additionally; POC Sam was able to get on this voyage
At the same times as a friend; LC Daisy from Sea Cadets Inverness who she met on an earlier offshore voyage!

We wish both of them the best on their jolly and hope the wind holds up for them!

Any young person aged 9-18 can join us, and Any cadets wishing to go on an offshore trip should speak to staff for more information.

Another night, another water fight.

This time it’s the Juniors turn. In a shocking twist, yet ANOTHER win for Staff. In an unrelated note: Thanks again to CPO Moloney for his diligent and completely unbiased scorekeeping.

PO Higgins & PPO Stevenson were both amazed and simultaneously terrified by the ingenuity and ferocity in the juniors’ attacks, as staff it was a sobering reminder that cadets retain a hit-list!

The boating continues! Although on this occasion the muscle power of our cadets was replaced by mechanical power instead.

Three of our cadets were out on a very toasty Sunday learning how to safely operate a power boat up to RYA level 1 standard.

I think PO Durnan will have a hard time convincing them that Kayaking is the better option now they’ve sampled some horsepower!

Many thanks to Airdrie Sea Cadets for letting our Juniors go along on their boating day.

As a “thank you” to our cadets for their excellent preparations and performance at our RNP, Last Night (15 July) was TS Queen Elizabeth’s annual water-fight.

Taking advantage of the warm weather and any improvised defensive tools, the results were a resounding victory for the staff, which was 100% true and is definitely not indicative of CPO Moloney being the scorekeeper…
