🚧 Improving Our Roads in Cliffe Woods 🌿

Following concerns raised by residents about parking on the grass verges along Merryboys Road—particularly since the introduction of School Streets restrictions—we’re pleased to share a positive update.

With support from Medway Council’s Parking & Enforcement Team, new verge protection posts have now been installed. These will help:
✔️ Prevent damage to grass verges
✔️ Improve visibility and safety along the road
✔️ Ensure buses can safely access View Road without obstruction

The posts also include reflectors, making them clearly visible at night and adding to the overall appearance of the area.

🙏 A big thank you to Medway Council for responding to the concerns raised and supporting this improvement.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep our village safe and looking its best.

These measures help preserve the green character of our village while keeping the footpaths clear and safe for pedestrians.

This morning, three councillors from Cliffe & Cliffe Woods Parish Council rolled up their sleeves and did something that will outlast all of us 🌳

In the heart of the play park in Cliffe, three mature trees were carefully planted, not just as landscaping, but as a quiet investment in the future of our village.

There’s something special about planting a mature tree. It isn’t a tiny sapling that will take decades to make its mark. These trees already stand tall, ready to offer shade to families, shelter to wildlife, and a little more beauty to the everyday backdrop of swings, laughter and muddy trainers. From today, they become part of the memories made there, first bike rides, birthday picnics, and the simple joy of an afternoon at the park.

Tree planting might not make headlines, but it speaks volumes about long-term thinking. When children play beneath their branches or families sit in their shade on a summer afternoon, few will remember the morning they were planted - but that’s rather the point. Community work is often about the legacy you leave behind.
