Our last concert was sold out so book now for the final concert of this season on Friday 27 March. It will feature the young, distinguished Kleio Quartet who have performed at the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall and many other major venues. They joined the BBC New Generation Artists from September 2024 - 26 and are the resident quartet for the Royal Northern College of Music’s String Quartet Studio.
This is an exciting programme including works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Saariaho and Webern.

Our sold-out concert on February 27th was given by the Astatine trio with Sally Beamish (viola) and PeterThomson (narrator). Works included pieces by Haydn and Schumann with Sally Beamish's powerful 'Seafarer' trio which included narration of the Anglo-Saxon poem illustrated by projections of monotypes by Jila Peacock.

Our next concert is on 30th January at 7.30, to be given by the London Piano Quartet playing works by Dvořák, Brahms and John Hawkins. Musical Opinion said of them "The London Piano Quartet benefits richly from the players' individual performing strengths and their innate capacity to react and respond to each other spontaneously and with imagination."

It was a privilege last night to hear the Carducci Quartet – world-renowned for their Shostakovich quartet recordings – play three of them. The performances were full of passion, virtuosity, violence, irony and moving tenderness. An exceptional event!

Just a month before our next event, a special concert in memory of Shostakovich who died 50 years ago. The Carducci Quartet, renowned for their day-long performance of the complete quartets and their recordings, will be playing quartet numbers 2, 8 and 10 for us. Excellent news that the wonderful Astatine Trio will be playing for us again in our next season and have just been made BBC New Generation Artists.

The performers join the station’s prestigious talent development scheme from September
