Tomorrow is a big day for us, four of our staff team will be setting off on the Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge! We're all feeling a bit nervous, but excited to be taking it on and raising money for such a great cause. We are lucky to see firsthand what a difference Home-Start can make to so many families, and we will be keeping that front and centre in our minds as we tackle those steep hills🤞

This week is and this year's theme is ‘attunement’. Attunement is important for everyone, but particularly for babies and their parents or carers. Put simply, it means noticing how a baby is feeling and responding with care, comfort and connection.

It might look like smiling back when your baby smiles, talking to them when they make noises, skin to skin contact, comforting them when they cry, tuning in to when they are tired, hungry or feeling overwhelmed. Of course we don’t always get it right, sometimes we misunderstand a baby’s cues and that’s ok, what matters is noticing, connecting and learning their cues over time.

It's Volunteers Week and we just wanted to say a really big thank you to all our volunteers, past and present, for all their hard work and support. Our volunteers really are the best and make such a difference by giving up their time to help others. Whether it's visiting a family at home, supporting one of our groups, or acting as a Trustee to steer our charity forward - we are so grateful for your time and dedication. THANK YOU 🥰

We've been busy preparing for our Ultra Challenge that is fast approaching! Our weekends now seem to consist of long walks, trying out new socks, walking poles and head torches. Our office chat has mainly turned to electrolytes, blister plasters and the worst hills we've found on our travels! At least this weekend looks less rainy than the last and Katharine can put her new sunnies to good use over the bank holiday.

We're so lucky to have such wonderful local support. Just look at these beautiful quilts and blankets - quilted for us by Project Linus UK North Gloucestershire and knitted by the Kemble & Ewen Craft Group. Love and care stitched into every blanket - and then passed on to the families we support🥰 Thank you!

This time last week we were walking on the treadmill at The Bear Inn for their marathon relay fundraiser. Blessed with great weather, a brilliant team of walkers and very generous patrons, they raised a massive £450!

Our thanks go to everyone who took part walking on the treadmill, Vikki for all of her hard work organising the event and to all those who so generously donated on the day. The team at The Bear Inn consistently go above and beyond to fundraise for us and we are so grateful for their support - what a team and what a wonderful community to be a part of 🥰

And we should add, one of the benefits of being there on a Sunday, we had a great roast dinner too! 🍽😊
