The objective of compliance auditing is to assess whether your current processes and procedures are in accordance with the authorities governing those entities in order to express a conclusion designed to enhance the degree of confidence of your business processes.

A compliance auditor works closely with managerial staff in various industries like H&S, finance, security, and merchandising. They’re responsible for making sure the company is complying with both company and governing authority regulations, and are tasked with enforcing internally established guidelines. Making sure your staff are fully aware of their responsibilities and advising them (following a set of guidelines provided by yourself) to ensure that the correct procedures are being followed.

is a national campaign coordinated by the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) on behalf of the Home Office. It which aims to address and against retail workers by highlighting the impact and scale of this behavior on staff, and encouraging positive behavior in stores.

In a recent research study carried out with charity members, 59% of respondents reported that incidents of abuse of staff and/or volunteers had increased in the last year, with an average increase of 33.3%. Figures from the campaign show that there are 1,300 violent or abusive incidents in the retail sector every day.

The results of British Retail Consortium Crime Survey were released last week and show a concerning increase in violence and abuse towards .

Here are just a few of the shocking statistics:

📌 Just over 1,300 violent or abusive incidents a day, up from almost 870
📌 Incidents of customer theft rose to 16.7 million, up from 8 million
📌 Overall cost of retail crime including crime prevention measures was £3.3bn, almost double the previous year.

📌 Only 36% of incidents of violence and abuse were reported to police by retainers.

About our Audit & Compliance Services:

The Lodge Service Profit Protection Team carry out compliance audits on behalf of a number of clients from a variety of sectors, including charity, financial, hospitality and entertainment.

We work with our clients to design a bespoke audit document aimed at providing feedback on key areas of their business, scoring each question according to a specific risk matrix which allows them to identify weaknesses in their operations and to consider implementing remedial measures.

Our audits are delivered through our secure online database, which also facilitates the production of detailed reports highlighting issues across their entire estate.

Our audit team consists of experienced, field-based full-time staff and appropriately qualified self-employed consultants. All our team are either ex-police officers or ex-retail managers, with experience of retail operations gained over a number of years.

We provide a truly national service, with audits being conducted in outlets situated from Lands End to the Orkneys Islands and all High Streets in-between!
