Join us at Hazel Wood near Mitcheldean for inclusive, welcoming, community co-created, land-based events, workshops, and environmental stewardship. HARE Forest School CIC is a non-profit Forest School based in Parkend, Lydney, Gloucestershire. We run Parent & Toddler Forest School, Family Forest Gatherings, Home Education Forest School & other workshops & retreats to support family well-being. Our sessions incorporate bushcraft, family yoga, arts and crafts, mindfulness, games and outdoor play.

Join us on Sunday, get cosy around the fire and toast marshmallows to mark the start of start of Winter, at Hazel Woods, Mitcheldean between 2:00pm and 6:30pm.
Date: 1st November 2026.
Join us for a relaxed, family-friendly gathering to celebrate the changing season.
Everyone welcome.
- Bring & Share meal - We'll cook a root veg soup on the fire. Please bring bread or a snack.
- Optional halloween fancy dress - don your witchy hats, stripey tights and all things whimsical.
- Bring your pumpkin lanterns, fairy lights or whatever you'd like to adorn yourself or the woodland with.
- Seasonal crafts
- Children's activities, including sensory activities for little ones, and mud kitchen.
- Chill out in a hammock or by the fire
- Connect with others
- Seasonal herbal tea
- Write your thanks or remember a loved one, and hang your note in the gratitude tree
- Bring and offering for the fae
- Bring your musical instruments to play around the fire
- Refreshments
Join activities that interest you, or just relax in the woodland.

Samhain is an Irish word meaning "Summer's end". It is the start of Winter and was the new year to ancient Celts. The final harvest before we enter the darkness of Winter, and the origin of halloween.
The gathering is donation-based, so everyone is welcome to come along regardless of what they’re able to contribute.
Come along, bring friends and family and celebrate the changing season with us.

Join us this halloween weekend to get cosy around the fire and celebrate the beginning of Winter, with one of our Samhain events.

🍁Samhain Full Moon Circle: Women’s circle with Karina, including meditation, journaling and intention setting.
Thursday 29th October 7:00-8:30pm - £18
🍁Pumpkin Lantern Workshop: Family friendly pumpkin carving workshop with Helen in half term.
Friday 30th October 1:00-3:00pm. £5 per person.
🍁Land Stewardship Day: Volunteer day helping with tasks at Hazel Woods such as chopping firewood, putting up shelters, clearing paths, decorating for events. Buffet lunch and drinks provided.
Saturday 31st October 10:30-3:30.
🍁Samhain Gathering: Community gathering to mark the beginning of Winter. Halloween fancy dress, crafts, children’s activities bring and share food, marshmallow toasting. Everyone welcome.
Sunday 1st November 2:00-6:30pm donation based (from £5 per family).

Join us for a day of nature connection and community at our Land Stewardship Days
Come and spend a day caring for the land and helping us build and develop infrastructure for HARE.
We’ll be running three more volunteer days this year:
10:30-3:30
Saturday 31st October
Saturday 28th November and
Friday 4th December
We’ll provide a buffet lunch, drinks and good conversation around the fire.
Learn new skills, meet new people, get stuck in and spend time connecting with our ancient woodland. Everyone is welcome.

After a short break, Forest Play is back in Hazel Woods, Mitcheldean ,on Tuesday 21st October 9.30-11.30.
Join us for sensory play, pumpkin fun and snacks by the fire.

Start the darker half of the year with some creative magic ✨. Join us on the Friday afternoon of half term at our Samhain/Halloween Pumpkin Carving workshop under the forest canopy. A pumpkin will be provided per person , and use of tools and drinks provided. This is an outdoor session so wrap up warm, although you are welcome to warm yourself by the fire (children must be supervised at all times).
If you will be joining us for our Samhain event on Sunday 1st November, you are invited to leave your lantern to light up the woods, and you may take it home with you afterwards. To book either event, go to HAREcic.co.uk.

Much gratitude to everyone who attended our Mabon event. It felt truly magical gathering together under the Autumnal forest canopy, Thank you so much to Dave from , Karina .smith.reyes.wellbeing for her beautiful apple intention meditation and to our volunteers who helped make our space in the woods look so beautiful.
