Passing on Susan Wilding, our District Governor’s, Thanks to Lion Nigel Sampson in recognition of all his work with our Wild Boar Chase Event every September, our Fireworks and Bonfire night every November and his amazing willingness to step up whenever the opportunity arises.

All our school uniform stock has been relocated to the Salvation Army.
There are two ‘free shops’ for school uniform that will be ready in the coming months.
1.) Salvation Army - 43 North Road, Broadwell, Coleford GL167BX
2.) Hilltop Family and Children Centre - Latimer Road, Cinderford GL142QA

We will post up more information as we have it.

➡️ Most importantly- these changes are to make it easier to access help for school uniform, not harder.

➡️ REFERRAL AGENCIES - Please make use of the ‘free shops’ but always come to us when items need purchasing.

In conjunction with Cheltenham Lions we donated kitchen white goods to a single parent family in Gloucester in time for Christmas.

Sadly there is no Lions Club in Gloucester at the moment, so we share some requests with other adjacent Lions Clubs.

Do you think Gloucester should have its own Lions Club? Talk to us about how that might happen, it only takes a few willing souls to get together and choose to make a difference for your community! Lots of help available.

We also donated Christmas Gifts to in-Patients and duty staff at the Forest of Dean Community Hospital in Cinderford (delayed picture publishing by confirming permissions to use!) who were there on Christmas Day.

We’ve been helping out over the Christmas and New Year in our community.

Just before Christmas we purchased Tesco Gift Cards for distribution by Social Services to families in need. Here’s some of the feedback we have received:

"thank you from ###X family. They wanted me to tell you that the voucher made such a difference, and they were able to reshuffle funds to allow food and presents this year"

"Nat i just wanted to let you know that the voucher the Lions provided meant that one of my families opened up to me about longer term finances and we have got a better plan to review in the new year about budgets. this voucher was way more than money in its value!"

"###X were so so happy for their voucher - Mum just said the need to not worry about feeding XX and his brother over the holidays from school was a Christmas present in itself and wants to pass on her thanks"

Another social worker used a voucher to buy gifts for a teenager just entering into supported living - "oh Nat I used one of your lions Tesco vouchers to get pamper things and new pjs for XX who got kicked out last week and is facing Christmas on her own in supported living. She smiled so big and was the first time I saw her look remotely happy in a while. Thank you and them so much for giving me this moment of happiness in the madness before Christmas, let alone XX!"

A huge THANK YOU to Newnham residents and friends who donated 24 kgs of blankets to our recent appeal for children in Ukraine. Thanks too to The George for collecting them

Sorry it was short notice but very WELL DONE!

The blankets have all been boxed up and are winging their way to our Birmingham HQ for onward movement to Ukraine.
