The Old Chigwellians' Association The number of Old Chigwellians continues to grow with school leavers now being made up of roughly equal numbers of girls and boys.

The Old Chigwellians' Association is open to all former pupils of Chigwell School and its main objective is to foster a bond of union between past and present Chigwellians and to help them keep in touch with the School. There is a vibrant Old Chigwellian local community, with many Old Chigwellians attending social and sports events at the OC Clubhouse, School and other venues in the UK. We encourage active listening, mutual respect and open discussion. We do not intend to offer a platform for commercial advertising or members trying to sell to each other.

We had a very special guest in our Senior Wind Band rehearsal before the half term...

Trainee guide dog, Deakin, joined us with trainer Daniel from . Deakin is on the Advanced Training Programme and came along to be exposed to a loud, musical environment.

Pupils were excited to meet Deakin and we'd love to invite him back - he was an excellent audience member! Next time, we'll lend him a trom"bone" and he can play with the group!

Our second Stardust talk of the term welcomed Old Chigwellian Beatrice Okpara and her friend Eliane Shoretire to speak to our Lower Sixth pupils and a group from Oaks Park.

Beatrice, now an analyst at JP Morgan after completing their degree apprenticeship scheme, and Eliane, a Mortgage Paraplanner at SPF Private Clients, shared their experiences and spoke about the importance of mentorship and having the courage to take opportunities throughout their careers.

The talk sparked plenty of questions from pupils, making for a brilliant discussion!

A huge thank you to Beatrice and Eliane for coming in to share their experiences 💙

Let’s go back to 1924, when our Chapel was first built. 💙

Dedicated as a memorial to the Old Chigwellians who lost their lives in the First World War, the Chapel has been an important part of life at Chigwell for more than a century.

These photos show Chigwell from Top Field, comparing how the school looked when the Chapel was first built with how it looks in 2026. While much has changed over the years, the Chapel remains a familiar feature of our school.

Today the Chapel acts as a focus of thought and inspiration for a diverse community representing all the major faiths of the world and those who have no faith, providing a quiet place where individuals can reflect and make sense of the world.

We hold a fascinating collection of historical records and artefacts, and we're always keen to hear from those who can help us tell the story of our school and its people. If you'd like to find out more or have something to share, please contact our Archivist, Ms Maya Frampton, at [email protected].

What could your future career look like? 💙

Our Year 11 and 12 pupils had the chance to find out at our recent Networking Breakfast, hearing from professionals across finance, technology, engineering, healthcare and more, and exploring the many pathways open to them after school.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to share their advice and experiences!

Earlier this month, our Jewish Society hosted its first-ever Family Challah Bake, welcoming around 100 guests for an evening of baking, learning and community.

With guidance from guest Rebbetzen Blima Wollenberg, families had the chance to make their own challah dough. While it was rising, they watched a video message from former pupil Noah, who is currently studying at a yeshiva abroad, sharing his experiences.

We were also delighted to welcome Guest of Honour Rabbi Hughes, who gives so generously of his time to support our Jewish Society. He was presented with a framed watercolour print of Chigwell School as a token of our appreciation. Molly from UJS also shared how the organisation supports Jewish pupils and students throughout their school and university journeys.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special. Swipe through to see some of the beautifully baked challahs and read the lovely feedback we received from those who attended! 💙
