Hollingwood Sheds Planning Application; A Little More Information âť—
We wanted to take this opportunity to share a little more information about our recent planning application for a permanent home for Hollingwood Sheds, and explain why this project means so much to us, our members and the wider community.
đź’š WHY DO WE NEED A NEW HOME?
Hollingwood Sheds is already making a real difference to people's lives. Our current temporary premises at Barrow Hill are very close to capacity, and we require a suitable, sustainable space where we can continue supporting our existing members and welcome more new ones.
We recognise that there is already a community room on Laburnum Street. We appreciate the value that this existing community facility brings to Hollingwood and the surrounding area.
However, with that in mind, Hollingwood Sheds offers a different service. We provide a practical, hands-on environment where people can come together to work on projects, learn new skills, keep physically active, build friendships and improve their overall wellbeing.
We are not simply looking to create another meeting room. We want to provide a dedicated community workshop where people can find purpose, companionship and a sense of belonging.

One of our members has shared how being part of Hollingwood Sheds has positively impacted their life:
“Since joining Hollingwood Sheds, I've noticed a real improvement in my mental and physical wellbeing. Having somewhere to go, something to do and people to socialise with has made such a difference. It gives me a reason to get out, keeps me active and gives me the opportunity to spend time with others. This reflects what Hollingwood Sheds is all about. Community spaces are not just about buildings; they are about the people who use them.

We understand that the potential impact on local wildlife is naturally a concern for some residents, and we want to address this openly.

We care deeply about our local environment and want to create a community space that respects its surroundings.

A place where skills can be shared, friendships can grow, people can stay physically and mentally active, and nobody has to feel isolated or without purpose.
We know that any development can prompt questions, and we of course, respect residents' right to express their views. We simply wanted to share a little more information about who Hollingwood Sheds is, why we need a permanent home, and the difference we hope to make to local people.
