🏆 BRITISH CITIZEN YOUTH AWARD 🏆

A huge congratulations to Deaken-James Towle, who yesterday was honoured with a prestigious British Citizen Youth Award (BCyA)!

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Deaken was also surprised with his very first promotion to Lance Corporal!

At just 13 years old, Deaken has spent the last two years volunteering with Shildon Alive, supporting homeless and vulnerable people in his local community.

From organising essential ‘hand up’ bags and securing donations from local businesses to raising awareness of homelessness and inspiring others to get involved, Deaken has made an incredible difference.

Deaken is a fantastic example of the difference young people can make through kindness, compassion and community spirit.

Congratulations, Deaken! A thoroughly deserved recognition and promotion. We are incredibly proud of you! 👏

NATIONAL CADETS WEEK | NEW SKILLS, NEW EXPERIENCES

Four of our cadets enjoyed an exciting evening at the International Defence Esports Games (IDEG), held at the British Esports Arena, where they took part in a dedicated Cadet Experience!

Supported by the Royal Signals and Military Intelligence Cyber Teams, the event gave our cadets the chance to explore the growing world of esports, cyber technology and digital innovation.

From tackling virtual drone challenges to getting behind the wheel in a racing experience hosted by a team from F1 Ferrari, there was plenty to get involved in! All four cadets even received a gift for taking part in the racing challenge.

Experiences like these allow our cadets to step outside their comfort zones, discover new interests and explore opportunities they may never have encountered before.

A huge thank you to the teams behind IDEG for welcoming our cadets and creating such an engaging experience. Opportunities like this inspire young people to explore new interests, develop their skills and discover exciting possibilities for the future!

🚨 NATIONAL CADETS WEEK | CADETS SAVE LIVES 🚨

Last night, Gateshead Detachment put their first aid skills to the ultimate test as cadets battled it out in their very own Detachment First Aid Competition!

Working under pressure, putting their training into practice and demonstrating the lifesaving skills they’ve developed through the Army Cadet syllabus, our cadets showed exactly why Cadets Save Lives. 💪

The competition was made even more special with a visit from Deputy Colonel Cadets, Lt Col Claire Gibson, who came along to see our cadets in action and recognise their commitment to developing these vital skills.

A fantastic evening of teamwork, knowledge and lifesaving skills! 👏

Well done, Gateshead! 💚
